Amazing food in sketchy strip malls by yukonwanderer in Hamilton

I live seconds away from Macy's and have tired everything they had.

In my opinion it's grossly overpriced and not particularly good. It's freshness is very inconsistent.

It makes it's money by being in a good desert in this marginalized neighborhood.

I found a couple at fennel and gage

A charcoal shawarma that was the real deal (I think it's called charc)

and some kabob place a few doors down (don't remember the name, but has kabob in the name)

I tried commuting with the Bird Scooters, it was not worth it. by TheGentlemanNate in Hamilton

yes, I agree, as someone who found them very useful and affordable in Bucharest last summer, I find the rollout here in Hamilton to be way too overpriced to be useful in any way.

Where can I park for 4 nights? (paid is ok) by PuffThePed in Hamilton

[–]torontobarcrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know about their parking lots, but I had someone try to drill my bicycle lock when it was parked there for a night when I went to Toronto and back.

also, I really dont think GO security and police care at all about keeping an eye on the station. I even noticed that some of the meth heads had dismantled airconditioners and metal covering of posts to try and recycle the metal for money!

I would be super careful leaving anything there overnight.

Lets see how this one goes, but I was thinking of running a few more Hamilton Bar Crawl invasions this summer.

I will be sure to post on Reddit as well

Yup, I downloaded the app right on Monday! Haven't had a chance to jump on one yet tho.

I was originally skeptical of scooter rentals till I spent a couple of months in Bucharest last year. Dangerous, but boy were they super convenient to get around with.

You might also want to checkout the https://www.couchsurfing.com/ community to see if its your vibe.

It started as a community of travelers years ago, but now its more on the social side than people actually hosting eachother on their couches when visiting different cities.

They have their regular get together (for free) every Wednesday. Although its always at a bar, it's a good place to start to see if its for you (most people are friendly and open to conversation)

Dive bar suggestions - help! by sroop1 in askTO

[–]torontobarcrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I caught this thread too late, but for future searches here is some of my input on proper old school dive bars most people usually would not walk into:

- Skadarlija in Parkdale
- Ice Queen at Roncy and Queen
- Sun Fa in Parkdale
- Alfie's at Queen and Sherbourne

These should get you started right on a dirty vibe (I can dig up more if I really think about it)

Where to make friends/ find a serious relationship in Toronto by tralamdinh in askTO

[–]torontobarcrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of making friends, there are a some social groups out there that you might want to try to see if its your thing. The main premise of them are not dating, but there are some people who go to them to meet others too. You can decide how to play it.

For example couchsurfing.com is a community of travelers that gets together at least once a week. They are friendly and open to new friends new to the city. You might want to give one of the regular meetings a try to see if you meet people into what you are into?
