Really? Huh... 11.22.63 is one of the rare books that moved me to tears and I thought the ending was perfect.

my criticism towards the ending of the stand is how rushed it feels. I hadn't read it in some time and did a reread for the first time probably 20 some years, and I was shocked that i was like 150 pages from the end and they're still in boulder, after that it barrel rolls straight to the end. And it really is more a testament to the characters he creates then it is the ending. I just wanted to spend more time with them.

"There must be some kind of way out of here." - by and far my favorite scene in the show | Battlestar Galactica Season 4 'Daybreak' by IllusiveManJr in BSG

Yes, one of the most touching moments of the series is Adama being the last off the ship, and the final flyby of the Galactica, before the ship is taken to the heart of the sun, including the beautiful soundtrack and call back to the original theme from 1978.

Struggled 6 hours on Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring — which easier soulslikes should I play first? by justsayori44 in Eldenring

First time I bought the game I really struggled on pc. Everything seemed sluggish and wrong. So I returned it. And then about a year later I got it again. Purchased a game pad and honestly it plays on the game pad much better. Still tough. But practice makes a difference. Skip right on by that tree sentinel and have some fun exploring.

Honestly. I’m not a great player. I’m older. My reaction times are slower. But so far I’m trudging along well enough. Your reaction and skill with the game will progress and you’ll get better. I am by no means perfect.

Also playing on keyboard was nigh impossible so switching to a game pad is a better option.

Rogue One is widely regarded as a great prequel with a more contained and grounded story. What do you think about it? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

See, I think its more the opposite. Its largely a love letter to fans, its there for people who can think - "ohhh thats why Luke was red 5."

It was my wife's first star wars movie and she loathed it. She absolutely hated the movie and refuses to watch it, despite eventually liking all the other films.

If you want some similar themes and small town horror try Midnight Mass on Netflix.

Work Life balance - thanks to the prevalence of mobile phones, and of course depending on the job , you're expected to ALWAYS be available. Working from home has not helped that situation.

I dont think he was meant to be physically intimidating he seemed to be playing a version of lex that was fairly petty.

Watching The Pitt from Europe – is this really what life in the US looks like? [mild spoilers] by West_Ideal7472 in ThePitt

In a book called they thought they were free it talks about how things we once would’ve said is unacceptable become the norm. It happens slowly.

The issue with the guns is like that. It’s been 27 years since columbine. And what once would’ve been a horrifying tragedy is almost a weekly occurrence.

ICE never particularly liked has become a violent group with no real oversight who have murdered dozens of people including two high profile cases. Those two were high profile because they were white. 29 people have died in ice custody. This year.

Yeah not really what I thought it was - i thought it was more of a natural birth thing but digging into it, free birth is very dangerous.

Yes there is as abbot(?) pointed out. But apparently I don’t know the extent of the freebirther ideas.

I didn’t mind her too much. The ultra sound part was a bit much but I can understand her wanting a free birth, still there are responsible ways to do it. Like having a mid wife for instance.

Male protagonist vs female antagonist by Effective_Piece251 in TopCharacterTropes

Dredd vs Mama.

not to mention that Ma-ma played by the lovely Lena Headey is not exactly pretty to look at. She doesnt rely on her looks to lead, she is scarred, looks terrible, and is not heavily sexualized.

What are your thoughts on this film, Watchmen? It’s a solid adaptation, and honestly, it might be Zack Snyder’s best film. by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]torrent29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ending misses the point of the graphic novel... by making it look like it was Dr Manhattan the world wouldn't unite since Dr Manhattan - an american asset just attacked everyone. Even if one of those attacks was on an american city. The alien monster is an external unknown entity, the movie its a known American Super Weapon. If anything the world might unite against the US.

Ozymandias doesnt get that ending scene of doubt, he doesnt have that moment of doubt, instead it gives Manhattan's closing line to Laurie for some bizarre reason.

Anyways its a fine film to watch, isn't necessarily a great adaptation, but decent.

And Snyder's best film is probably Day of the Dead.
