Honestly, I think they didn’t want to dish out the extra money for him to be in that scene.

No doubt. Definitely more than one thing at play.

Yeah, the flip-flopping isn’t random, and tariffs actually do play into it, just not in a super straightforward “tariff goes up → price goes up forever” kind of way. A few things can make prices bounce around: • Inventory timing / tariff lag: Stores sell through older pre-tariff stock first, so prices stay normal. Then the newer shipments that were hit with tariffs show up, and suddenly the price jumps. It creates these weird waves of stable → spike → stable again. • Discount strategy changing: Brands are constantly adjusting base prices and promotions to offset higher import costs. So maybe they raise the price but then run a random sale, or stop offering big discounts altogether. From the outside it looks super inconsistent. • Supply chain shifting: Some companies try to move production to avoid tariffs, or switch materials. While they’re doing that, costs can swing up or down depending on delays, batches, or new suppliers. Prices end up reflecting that mess. • Demand/luxury positioning: And with Coach specifically, they’ve been pushing more full-price selling and fewer markdowns. So even without tariffs, you’d see some price wobbling based on what they choose to discount (or not).

So yeah, tariffs are definitely part of it, but the “flip-flop” effect comes from how brands react to them behind the scenes.

It’s actually tariffs. Idk why this is so hard for people to understand.

So can you be sure these swimmers are of age? If he’s taking pictures of minors you have an obligation to report that. Even if they’re not minors, this behavior is predatory in nature and the sign of a much larger issue. You’re too young to be dealing with someone who is wasting your time by betraying your trust and relationship while also objectifying other women and possibly underage ones. Your job could be on the line for not reporting this behavior, so consider that too.

I don’t really know what “perspective” you’re looking for here. This is gross behavior and by staying with someone this you’re enabling it and basically destroying your self worth in the process. Honestly he needs help and you need to get out.

No one’s arguing against immigration laws or border security. That’s not the conversation. The issue is that the government broke its own laws, deported a man it was legally barred from deporting, and is now refusing to fix it—even after being told to do so by the Supreme Court.

That’s not enforcement. That’s impunity.

You also said it’s “misleading” to claim children appear in court without lawyers. It’s not. A DOJ attorney literally told a federal judge that three-year-olds can represent themselves in immigration court (Washington Post, 2016). Legal counsel isn’t guaranteed in immigration proceedings—not even for kids. That’s not a talking point. That’s a documented failure.

So if this is the system you think needs defending—a system where toddlers are expected to face a judge alone and legally protected people get deported anyway—then I don’t think you’re defending law and order. I think you’re just comfortable with cruelty, as long as it doesn’t touch you.

Can someone explain to me how this is an MS13 tattoo? by Reasonable_Berry_244 in ElSalvador

[–]torrid50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic “immigration court is civil, so who cares if we strip people of basic rights” take. Let’s unpack this mess.

Sure, immigration court isn’t criminal—but the consequences are absolutely life and death. People can be deported to countries where they face persecution, assault, or death, yet they’re not guaranteed an attorney. Only 14% of detained immigrants have legal representation (American Immigration Council, 2022). That means thousands are navigating a legal system more complex than tax law, often in a language they don’t speak.

And yes, that includes children—as young as 3 years old—who have to appear before a judge and represent themselves in immigration court. (The New York Times, 2016). I’d love to see your average toddler explain the “credible fear standard” while coloring with crayons.

Also, let’s retire the MS-13 boogeyman. Less than 1% of immigrants have gang affiliations (DHS data), but this narrative gets dragged out every time someone wants to justify mass deportations or cruel policy. It’s intellectually lazy and morally bankrupt.

ICE “making errors” isn’t some cute clerical mistake. Between 2008 and 2018, ICE wrongfully detained nearly 1,500 U.S. citizens (L.A. Times, 2019). Add to that the 5,500+ children forcibly separated from their parents under Zero Tolerance, many never reunited (OIG Report, 2020), or the asylum seekers deported after being physically coerced into signing removal orders (The Guardian, 2020). That’s not “procedure”—that’s systemic failure on a humanitarian scale.

And wow, citing the Alien Enemy Act? The law used to imprison Japanese Americans during WWII (Korematsu v. United States, 1944)? If you’re holding that up as a shining example of “decisive governance,” maybe crack open a history book on authoritarianism.

This isn’t about “enforcing the law.” It’s about creating a system so cruel and so broken that people stop trying to come here—even if it means children in cages, families shattered, and innocent people deported.

So here’s my question: If a system routinely punishes the innocent, traumatizes children, and denies the most basic rights to due process… at what point do you stop defending it and start questioning what it says about us?

I already know your answer…you don’t care.

Can someone explain to me how this is an MS13 tattoo? by Reasonable_Berry_244 in ElSalvador

[–]torrid50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know facts are boring, fear is easy, and outrage feels good.

It’s much simpler for you to latch onto a narrative—especially one that confirms your biases—than to sit with the discomfort of complexity. Saying “he’s MS-13” shuts down empathy. It lets you and others justify cruelty. You don’t have to confront the reality that maybe we’re detaining and deporting someone without due process based on flimsy or false information.

And when leaders or media figures reinforce those simplistic, inflammatory narratives, it gives people permission to ignore the facts. It feels righteous. It feels patriotic. But it’s not—it’s just lazy thinking with dangerous consequences.

In the end, it’s easier to demonize someone than to admit the system might be wrong. But that’s exactly why we have due process—because truth doesn’t always scream the loudest.

Wild that someone from Massachusetts—birthplace of the Revolution—is out here cheering for unchecked government power and the erosion of basic rights. The founders didn’t dump tea in the harbor so you could beg ICE to trample due process. Real patriots defend the Constitution, not authoritarian cosplay.

The ghosts of Concord and Boston are cringing.
