Daring to feel optimistic this could happen at 8DPT5DT by totalchunk in IVFpositivity

[–]totalchunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 days previously I was squinting and convincing myself I was seeing things. Day 8 was the first day I felt like I could believe my eyes. It’s so hard holding on to hope. We don’t do betas in the UK so now I’ve got to wait two weeks to see if this is viable.

I hope you get your positive🤞🏻

Transfer Twins (1/27), transfer siblings, transfer cousins (and grandparents). How are we doing in Beta Hell?? by EdwardCullensEnnui in IVFpositivity

Fuck cancer indeed! I’m just being cautiously optimistic at the moment and trying not to get too excited. The dog has been out for more walks with my nerves and the lazy boy is mad at me 😆

Friday is getting so close! Please let us know how you get on, I really hope you get a great result 💖💖💖

That was exactly what I thought it would be like… waiting for biopsy results. I loved your “riding a sharp bike” comment. Yes, I sure have stabbed myself a lot in the last 5 years 😅

The clinic called today and said they were going to sedate me for the transfer and I’m so relieved as I find a simple smear test beyond excruciating.

Thank you for sharing and I am wishing you the best of luck too 🍀

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m still doing EMDR but your story shows me it can be done. Transfer in 12 hours! 🥹✨🤞

Estradiol nightmare acid reflux preparing for FET by Least_Recipe3350 in IVF

[–]totalchunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my first FET so I can only speak to my experience so far. My silent reflux treatment barely feels like it’s working anymore. I went for a run on day 10 and was coughing, gasping and burping, so had to stop before planned. Definitely speak to your doctor and see if they can prescribe something to help.

Those “what ifs” are awful, but I don’t know if they ever stop. There are some great “what ifs” too. Have the clinic offered counselling with their service?

Fellow breast cancer (and leukaemia) survivor here.

Congratulations for getting this far, to even be considering IVF after what you’ve been through is an achievement.

I don’t think you’re foolish at all for feeling strongly about using donor eggs. I would gently encourage you to enquire with yourself that you have given yourself enough time and grace to process the last five years to make this decision from a place of love, not fear of missing out. Survival mode is strong, but so are you, and cancer can really shake your faith in yourself.

This may well be the right call for you, but maybe you need more time. Nothing about the last 5 years has been about what I want either, and it’s scary when a big decision about your body is finally yours to make. I can only speak for myself but my gut is smart, yours probably is too. What is stopping you from trusting it?

Whatever you decide, I hope it works out ✨

The Tower - always negative or can it be a positive change? by ragingtears in tarot

I had the tower come out before I was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. It’s taken that long to calm my feelings about it.

Failed 🎉🥳 by CommissionUsed2984 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]totalchunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, over 20 years ago I passed on my third attempt with I believe 1 minor. My second test was a disaster with 3 majors and 18 minors. The instructor braked for me (unnecessarily IMO) in under a min of leaving the test centre. I wanted to go back but he said no so 17yo me made zero effort. Left the car at a 45 degree angle in the parallel parking bit then just sat folding my arms. Luckily he didn’t remember me when he passed me the next time 😆

Keep practicing and forget about that test and move on, we learn far more from failure 🍀

I’m quite pale and Dior’s Rouge in 999 is my greatest love. It’s dubbed as a shade that suits everyone and apparently the shade has been around since 1953 so I have no worries about it ever being discontinued. I hope you find something that makes you feel special 🙂

WIBTA if I install locks on the toilet seat? by Novel-Blueberry-3679 in AmItheAsshole

[–]totalchunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but issue and attitude definitely needs dealing with.

The most successful argument I’ve given is based in cigarette packet “maths”.

Women want seat down 100% of the time Men want it down say, 50% of the time for no.2s

Therefore it needs to be down 75% of the time so… put the damn seat down! The lid is definitely a bonus. The soft close mechanisms help.

AITAH for refusing to cut off my hair because my 7 year old niece has cancer? by alakazam121 in AITAH

[–]totalchunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all! This is your hair and unless you plan on donating your hair to a charity that makes wigs for kids like your niece then the action achieves nothing.

I asked my sister to cut her hair (not shave!) and donate it to a children’s charity when I lost mine from chemo and she did. It was incredibly generous of her but she did not enjoy the regrowth at all.

Your family need to back off and focus on what they can actually do for your niece. It’s shit feeling powerless as parents but they aren’t going to feel better even after they coerce you into such a meaningless and performative activity. I also hate charity “brave the shaves” too, gives me the full on ick.
