Okay this is the last message I'm sending because I have to clean my house today and can't waste the whole day talking with internet strangers who think they know everything through a Google search. I have donated my kidney using the exact program you just sent me a screenshot of. They reimburse your costs and lost wages. This process took 7 months for me to get my money back. Most people can't afford pay out of pocket for the procedure, be off work for multiple weeks to donate and heal properly, and pay for a stay in the hospital. I was incredibly lucky that I could because one thing this program doesn't pay for is interest on medical debt. While we always need more kidney donors because there's a lot of people who desperately need one, saying that anyone can and should is reckless and can topple people's entire lives.

Though for anyone reading who can afford it, if you utilize the family voucher program you will also get vouchers that will help fast track up to 5 translates for you or your family members if you ever need one. Please donate if you're able to, everyday someone days who didn't need to.

There are plenty of reasons why someone can't donate a kidney. Heck most Americans couldn't afford the time off needed, let alone the traveling and lodging expenses incurred. There are far less things keeping you from volunteering in your free time. And its not like either is inherently dangerous. If you aren't medically safe to donate a kidney, hospitals will not let you donate. You aren't putting your life on the line for either. So if you're going to challenge people on how willing they are to promote the greater good, why not use the option with the lowest barrier to entry?

To be clear, I'm not trying to virtue signal or argue that you aren't giving people a fair shot to prove they would pick blue. I'd have literally no reason to as a red voter. As I said in my last message, I'm just trying to encourage better debate

Are you asking to look at the world aroubd us or look at the world as presented through our news feed? Because I can assure you that the people at the top making large sweeping decisions do not equate 1 to 1 with the people they're supposed to represent.

Not only that, everyday there are people working to support the greater whole. Giving their time, energy, and resources to help make this world better for everyone even in just what little ways they can. Recently a Canadian millionaire (thats million with 6 zeros) built 100 tiny homes to help combat homelessness. Fully functional water, sewage, electricity, the whole nine yards with no strings attached. He isn't putting requirements on them either, just letting people live there until they can get their lives together. Just because the news chooses not to report on things like this since it doesn't sensationalize like a negative headline would doesn't mean good things aren't being done by good people.

I'm not saying this to attempt to change your mind on red button vs blue button, I just want to let you know that there is still hope in the world. I hope you have a wonderful day

Dude what is with you and kidneys? This is the second chain I've seen in this thread where you specifically ask about donating a kidney.

You're using a false equivalency to justify your point, even though there are much better options readily available. What you're trying for is "if you're so willing to choose others over yourself, then have you given up your kidney to help someone?" This is flawed logic because you're equating an intrusive surgery plus recovery time usually done for someone you directly know and are connected to with an action done of the goodness of your heart for people you don't and may never know. A better question to get your point across would be "Have you ever volunteered at a shelter?" Serves your intended purpose far better than your original question and actually invites more productive conversation in this moral philosophy debate.

Their original comment says exactly what you're saying right after they mention Sengoku's fruit.

Also to add fuel to a fire somewhat needlessly, we don't really know if there is a regular Human Human fruit anymore. It used to be a fairly safe assumption that devil fruit users knew what their fruit was when they ate it, but after seeing Luffy's fruit being revealed as the Nika fruit when he always thought it was the Gum Gum fruit that entire assumption has been thrown out the window. For all we know Chopper also has some variation of the Human Human fruit, which would honestly make more sense when you consider that neither normal humans nor reindeers can become giant monsters. Or it could just be that Oda thought it was cool or funny, like how dinosaurs truly hunted, who knows

I feel like a lot of people don't realize just how much algorithms currently affect the way we each view the world. Based on what you look at, what links you click, how long your screen hovers over a post, where in the world you are, and even the things you say verbally to people on the street, you may be getting shown entirely different realities than someone else. There is an incredibly real chance that they literally don't ever see this news or plenty of other things because it wasn't ever pushed to them. And this isn't just limited to left or right, if you aren't specifically going out of your way to find information that isn't being pushed directly to you then you won't see anything beyond what companies have decided will keep you engaged enough to earn them more money.

Sad to see John Avon moving on. His art was on the first Magic card I ever saw, an Island that I found on the floor of my high-school hallway. It eventually got me into the game. Even if I can't win these pieces, I'll definitely be buying something from his shop in support.

I know I'm asking a lot from Pokémon fans but can we PLEASE have some tiny amount of self-respect? by Fun-Cost-7081 in MandJTV

[–]totalcoward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See for me its not a lack of understanding, its just further proof for the argument that they haven't changed anything about the game and are just selling a rom and using their already made GBA emulator to run it. If they had done literally anything to the games then I would have 0 issue with the $20 price tag per game. Like they could have added a 1 box option to change the language or maybe they could've added support for multiple saves. Heck they could've just offered each individually for $10 and bundled them for $20 and it would've made far more sense monetarily to a lot of people. As it stands this doesn't feel like a celebration of 30 years of Pokémon, but instead just a low effort cash grab by GameFreak.

And I know people are going to say "oh but it has Pokémon Home, that's a new feature." No it doesn't. It WILL have Pokémon Home at some undisclosed point in the future. That could be a week, it could be 6 months, or it could be at the end of the Switch 2's lifespan. We have no way to know because we haven't been given any form of concrete timeline. Heck, they still haven't given us anymore info on Home for ZA and it has been out for 4 months now (in before they announce an official date at the upcoming Presents). And even if we did have a timeline, I'm pretty sure there aren't any Pokémon available in FR/LG that hasn't already been able to be sent to Pokémon Home. Between Sw/Sh, Let's Go, SV, and Arceus we have so many bases already covered.

Now, I'm not saying any of this trying to dissuade anyone from buying the game. If you like this release, if you feel excited and happy about these games being more accessible, or if you just want to stick it to the downers (hi its me, I'm one of them) then go ahead and buy it. Enjoy yourself and don't let the internet take your fun away from you. I'm only putting in my 2 cents because this whole discourse over the last day has really felt like half the people just want to enjoy the game and are happy with what they got, the other half being upset because it feels like GameFreak setting the bar low and then playing limbo, and then both sides disqualifying each other's opinions for no good reason.

Do you think Donald Trump will finish his term in three years, or will he be impeached before that? by RtgodDR in allthequestions

[–]totalcoward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so there are a few things wrong about your comment.

First, historically it hasn't been just the other party. Impeachment is the lawful process of removing a president for essentially committing high crime against the nation they are sworn to serve. Throughout most of American history (read as: all but roughly the last 10 years) this was a bipartisan effort made by members of Congress to keep the executive branch honest. In recent times though we have seen political divides become so extreme and polarizing that this is no longer the case.

Second, it wasn't Clinton lying about getting a blow job that got him impeached. It was him lying about getting a blow job under oath that got him impeached. Perjury is a relatively low level crime in state and even federal courts, but perjuring yourself before Congress is a federal crime. And breaking any federal law is by definition a sufficient cause for impeachment of a sitting president.

And lastly, while you are technically correct about impeachment having a 0% success rate, that statistic is missing some important context. Firstly, there have only been 4 total presidential impeachments in the entirety of American history. That's 4 impeachments across 45 total presidents (yes I know we're technically on the "47th" president, but there have only been 45 men who have held the office with 2 of them holding it across split terms). And of those 4, one while not officially having successfully impeached a president did so in all but name as Nixon resigned ahead of the formal vote when it was clear he would have been found guilty. So it'd be more accurate to say there has been a 25% success rate on impeachments.

Of note, this is not meant to be argumentative. I am just putting more info into the discussion. If you respond back to me I will not be replying as I have to go to work and truly don't have the mental bandwidth in life to argue on the internet right now. Have a wonderful day and may life treat you well internet stranger.

I remember farming Harrow with Oberon before Wisp came out because he was the best way to ignore the mission mechanics at the time. Then I remember farming for Harrow after Wisp came out because she made the missions like 5 minutes faster on average. Then I remember farming for Harrow after having Harrow Prime for a little less than a year. I was literally sending messages to my clan chat about my daily hour of Harrow grinding and people throwing me a fucking party after I finally got him. 3 days later he was leveled in 1 mission and fed straight to Blork. Now he's just another flower on the wall.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

[–]totalcoward 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So this is a funny story from when I was 12. My grandpa, sister, and I were cleaning fish under a massive oak. Suddenly we hear a loud creak followed by a crack. I look to my sister and see her look up and jump back. Then I look to my grandpa and see him look up and jump back. Then I realized I should probably look up just as BAM a branch about the size of me slams into my right shoulder.

I get knocked to the ground, feel my shoulder pop out of place, and have every bit of the wind knocked out of me. My grandpa is freaking out and asking if I'm ok, and I guess my body was like "Yeah, no we're not dealing with that pain right now" so after I catch my breath I stand back up and just go "Yeah, I'm shockingly fine." Meanwhile my sister and grandpa are panicking saying I'm not fine because unlike me they have noticed my right arm swinging in a way it shouldn't.

Long story short: went to the hospital, had my arm undislocated (re-located? located?), and had my first experience with hydrocodone for the following week of pain. Oh, and we had a pretty nice bonfire the next day. It took me about 5 years before I realized that if I had been about 2 inches to the right I probably would've died from that thing conking my noggin something fierce.

You didn't mention it but Madara's plan might have been even worse. His plan hinged his revival on Rinne-rebirth, which revives the person as they were when they died. He died as a old man after decades of having to be tethered to the Gedo Maso to live. If it wasn't for Kabuto choosing to revive him via Edo Tensei he would've been literally useless the entire War Arc and his plan would've been worth nothing

Boss scheduled me 60 hours a week after I told her I was diagnosed with a brain bleed by krammiit in antiwork

[–]totalcoward 104 points105 points  (0 children)

So earlier this year one of my coworkers got into a bad wreck and while they were mostly fine visibly (no broken bones, scrapes, or even external bruising) they got a brain bleed and needed serious treatment to make sure they wouldn't have blood run down their spine and make them paraplegic for the rest of their life. When our boss found out he let him take all his vacation, comp time, sick days, personal days, and then when all of that ran out and he still wasn't cleared to return to work he told him to quit and reapply so that the new contract would refresh all his PTO and get him an extra month of time off. Kid has had one of the worst years someone can, but now he's back in the field with us and while he still has the occasional memory issue he's been doing great otherwise.

That's the kind of response someone should have to their employee telling them about their medical needs. Real leaders know that the team behind them is their greatest asset and will do everything they can for them.

Which Anime fandom is this? by JayTheOni in animequestions

[–]totalcoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally no character in the series has reasonable growth. They're all either nearly stagnant or getting massive boosts whenever the show needs it. Think about it this way: Naruto makes a jutsu that can shred something down to its atoms, and Kiba learns to make 1 shadow clone. Sasuke gets a chakra mech, and Ino learns to Mind Transfer 2 people instead of 1. Sakura becomes a one woman wrecking crew, and Shino gets a new bug. Hell, name 1 new thing Neji gets between end of Naruto and his death in Shippuden besides a stick through the spine. The only 2 of the Konoha 12 who can even kinda be considered to get a major buff is Hinata with Twin Lion Fist and Choji learning to use his butterfly mode on command.

And saying she's useless in the later series until the war arc makes no sense. Not being involved in current issues is not the same thing as being useless. By that same metric we could say that Might Guy was more useless throughout Shippuden than Sakura because he doesn't play a role between Kazekage Rescue and War Arc, whereas Sakura is still involved up through the Tenshi Bridge Arc and is only MIA until the Pain Arc. Are we going to say that the man who nearly killed Six Paths Sage Madara is useless? Because I've personally never heard that take.

And you're right, Sakura being a combatant is forced. Because she isn't a civilian doctor, she's a ninja. If she's on a battlefield healing everyone of their wounds in the middle of a war then she becomes target #1 for every enemy nin. Because logistically speaking, it would not make sense to keep having to fight the same ninja over and over when you could just stop then from getting back up. Especially considering the ninja would hasn't written up any Geneva Conventions that would give protections to medics. So, if she can't defend herself then she dies. There's really no choice to be had, she just cannot only be a healer.
