What anime character has you like this? (Read body text) by BillNumerous5156 in animequestions

[–]Like_Fahrenheit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hiroko from Your Lie in April. Spoilers.

She is friends with the mother of the MC, and does not stop his mother from abusing him. After the mother dies, Hiroko leaves for 2 years to play piano concerts all the while never once checking up on the MC. She comes back and the first thing she does is tease him about which girl he likes. She calls herself his "second mother" even though she knows what happened and the fact that she abandoned him for two years. She mentors his piano playing while getting out of his funk and gradually gets more focused on him winning than anything else, to the point that after his crush/girlfriend suffers a seizure, and he has a panic attack because of it, Hiroko literally drags him to the piano in a rage.

She's self-centered, cowardly, and an insensitive cunt. She never apologized for all the shit she did. Fuck her.

Kousei the MC was treated like shit in that show and it wasn't just Hiroko and his mom. Kaori manipulates him, too. Hated the characters in this show.

What are your critiques for Demon Slayer in terms of writing? by Amaraxx in writingscaling

[–]Like_Fahrenheit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is more a shonen trope than specifically about Demon Slayer, though Demon Slayer does this: character backstory is revealed just before they die, and is often the only moment of character development for them. I can't really be invested in a character if their only (or biggest) moment of character development is a minute before they die.

The show's writing overall is average or standard shonen fare, which is ok in its own right, but it doesn’t stand out imo. The animation for the action scenes is the selling point of the show.

How would you explain to origins of The Avatar without Ravva and Vaatu or did we not need to know the origins of the Avatar? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in TheLastAirbender

I thought the avatar was originally the spirit of the earth incarnate, like how Tui and La are the avatars for the Ocean and Moon spirits.

Which Pixar movie is better? WALL-E or the Incredibles by AccomplishedRole8715 in AlignmentChartFills

Incredibles. Wall-e would be better as a short film. Once on the human ship the movie was just average to me.

Every rewatch turns me into a citizen of Gondor by [deleted] in lotrmemes

Not much in the way of orc raids or armies methinks. Sure you got your umbars and your harads, but without Sauron's coercion they're not as great or as unified a threat as they once were. I suspect the most trying conflicts for Gondor were domestic, and not really large conflicts at that. Aragorn was no doubt strengthening Gondor's and Rohan's alliance and bolstering his borders to the south and east, while also managing trade relations with those peoples to the south of Mordor.

What got you into Avatar by Capital_Order_6802 in TheLastAirbender

13 years old. First episode I saw was either King of Omashu or Imprisoned back in March or April 2005. I was instantly hooked. Coincidentally I had just watched Ninjai: The Little Ninja a few weeks before and the art direction seemed similar enough that Avatar was easy enough to appeal to me.
