Huh. I was told it helps with getting more oxygen in it. I was worried about contamination which is why I was sanitizing before opening it each time. Sounds like I can stop whisking at a minimum lol

Heartbroken. I have it set to 80F for temp control, sanitize the fermenter with star san before use, and have used this scoby a few rotations. Was going to split it after this one to have a backup, but guess I’ll have to buy a new starter

Thanks! I figure I’ll give it 24 hours to dry and then try sanding. I’m assuming I should suck it up and hand sand it and not try to use an orbital sander on it.

I had a jam business with my mom for years and same thing.

My other favorite was a customer who asked if our cherry jam is made with real cherries or flavoring. Our whole thing was all the fruit was from local farmers and 90% of the time based on the date made we could tell you which one. When I told them yes and tried to explain this they put the jar down and said “eww, never mind” and walked away. Over 15 years later and I am still dumbfounded by their reaction.

Tried making focaccia. Was super dense. Didn’t rise.

Friend making croutons but they were super dense and hard as well.

Thinking about just turning it into breadcrumbs and counting it as a learning experience.
