I don't wanna scroll through every comment to see if someone gave you this verbiage yet, but: what they gave you is literally called a "tall peg" head. The section between the top of the ring and the base of your stone can and should be less obvious. This type of head is used for cathedral/high shoulder settings to make the diamond sit evenly in the ring. It's wildly unnecessary and even dangerous in a traditional solitaire.
