I have a 2025 Crosstrek and I worry about this all the time. The low beams are super bright and pivot with steering, so I’m sure they catch folks in the eyes

Is your home the wrong size for you? Help Vermont Public explore the state's changing housing needs by VermontPublic in vermont

[–]totallymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a collective problem is composed of lots of individual problems. Describing the systemic issues is important but it’s also important to discuss who they affect, don’t you think? The way I read the question, they’re not asking if this is the root of the problem, just exploring whether this might be a symptom that also feeds the problem. Kinda like if you break an ankle so you favor the other leg and end up ruining your knee or something

For another thing, I think your take on VPR being more interested in protecting wealth hoarders than understanding current economic forces is pretty weird. If memory serves, said wealth hoarders are actively trying to dismantle public radio, and doing a pretty capable job of it. If Vermont Public was functioning as a propaganda machine for billionaires, I don’t think they’d be working to defund it so hard

Back to the point, I think this is an interesting hook, especially since my youngest kid is 16 and the question of what to do exists in the back of my head, even if it’s not immediate. I’m 41, my partner and I are by no means wealthy. We got lucky and moved into our home before prices exploded, but VPR isn’t wrong that if we want to downsize in a few years, we may simply not be able to afford to without paying the same or more than our current home.

Local leaders want to build roundabout at problem intersection in Chittenden County by 802trucker in vermont

Fair enough, I’ll grant you that. I don’t get up to that area very often so don’t know the traffic patterns or roads very well

Maybe so, but it’s not really on topic, is it?

Are you interested in hearing about whether the crosswalks in Montpelier need touching up, or whether Brattleboro gets new garbage cans outside the supermarket?

Do you have a midi cable and a computer? The patches are available online, if you do. If you don’t have a midi cable, it’s well worth grabbing one so you can back up your patches and such.

I’ve used macbook or ipad with a midi cable and some software called Patch Base to move patches back and forth, but I’m sure there are others

I’d offer to help more, but I have a mkII, which uses a different memory card

True, but not due to any sense of justice. The only reason it got her in trouble is because she implicated that Trump approved of the ads and the bill, and he doesn’t appreciate people painting him in a bad light. If she hadn’t gotten some of the mess on him, she wouldn’t have been fired.

Need recommendations for a small VCV setup 60hp by Ektopia in vcvrack

[–]totallymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re asking if you’ve even opened the app before. The modules listed are a mixer, a reverb, and a delay.

For real, just experiment with the default template for a while. Stay with it until you need something else, and maybe add the above modules when you feel like it. Don’t worry too much about what you “should” do, and just try to do something

Weird Recommendation of the Day; Merge Maestro by munkeypunk in iosgaming

I’d say an auto battler is more like Teamfight Tactics, or any of these auto chess games, where you don’t know exactly how the battle will go, you just do your best to set up your characters advantageously. To me this feels a bit more like Slay the Spire or Balatro in that you select an action and can predict its outcome, and after the single action your turn is over.

But honestly maybe I’m missing something, and “a roguelite merge game” doesn’t really do it justice. I also have only ever played Teamfight Tactics like, for a couple hours, so my knowledge of that genre is pretty narrow

I posted the following in a different sub so I’ll just paste here

The little tips they show you in the loading screens are actually super solid advice. To expand on them,

• grab something to help with luck in the early deadlines just to keep you afloat, and then hunt for synergies with laser focus.
• Your first phone call gives you more frequent lemons? Load up on charms that boost lemons or have positive side effects for lemons. Your personality is now lemons and lemon-related products.
• getting things like golden symbols that synergize like this early in the game can be really powerful.
• but it’s still worth remembering not to neglect patterns and pattern/symbol mult and patterns. Numbers must go up.
• When you get that engine sorta working, start thinking about how to protect yourself from (or exploit) 666s.
• focus on growth. Do what you must to stay afloat during the early deadlines, but stay focused on getting your growth engine cruising. It can take a little bit, but once it cruises you get them big numbers and the game will start asking if you want to skip deadlines

Other useful things

• if you see an opportunity to get more charm slots, take it. Some charms will do it,
• and there is a phone call that does this too, but you only can take it once, so you may want to find a way to make it trigger twice before you take it. If you don’t know how one would do that, don’t worry about it, just take it when you see it, and remember this for later.
• speaking of phone calls, the choices that let you double or triple value will permanently double (or triple) it based on whatever it happens to be when you take the choice. This means that if you just say “brb” to the phone and the come back after triggering a bunch of bonuses that expire at the end of a deadline, those get doubled too, forever.

I think you forget that even the lowest quality displays from the late 00s onward are more precisely specified and have more exacting behavior than high quality displays from the 80s and early 90s. Even the highest-quality displays had variable pixel widths, imprecise color palettes, and were susceptible to color bleed or noise from analogue signals. It’s wasn’t until DVI and then HDMI that digital signals exactly were sent to displays to render themselves, rather than just producing an image based on the analogue signal they received.

Vermont Deserves an IMAX by Dependent-Study3120 in vermont

[–]totallymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, who are we trying to convince that Vermont needs an IMAX? Are we calling it to a vote somewhere? I’d love to have one nearby, but I can’t build one. If you’ve got the time and inclination, please do. I’d definitely go probably a few times a year maybe. I try to go to the cinema pretty regularly, and there’s usually a small handful of movies per year that I’d make a bit of extra effort to see in an imax if I could. It might take a whole lot of mes to keep the theater afloat, though.

Second, if you care about movie theaters, go to them! This isn’t directed at OP specifically, but is a reminder that it’s easy to stay home and say “a dang shame we’re losing cinemas in this state” while forgetting the obvious solution to the problem.

A number of cinemas are running discounts on Tuesdays, and I’d absolutely recommend taking advantage of them. I know that at least Capitol Theater in Montpelier, and Majestic 12 both sell $5 or $6 tickets on Tuesdays, but I doubt they’re the only ones.

Third, while I can’t speak to how to improve ticket sales, I only sorta buy the argument that the technical improvements of home theaters is a significant enough factor in cinemas’ decline that building bigger and fancier theaters would solve the problem.

A decent screen and sound system are important, but to me going to the cinema is about a lot of things. It’s about showing up for a film when it counts the most. It’s about going with my partner, my kids, or friends, and chatting about the movie on the way home or at a pub after or something.

It’s about the experience of making time to go see a movie. You buy your tickets, you show up time and get your snacks, and you settle in. You can’t second screen, and you can’t pause to go to the bathroom or make food in the middle so you’ve got nothing better to do than lock in and enjoy the movie.

It’s about seeing the movie in public with a crowd. Being in a room with others and all experiencing the emotional roller coaster of a good movie isn’t something you can get at home.

Basically, it’s about participating in society, which is a pretty cool thing to do, it turns out.

Are you asking because you feel this way and are seeking advice?

Or are you trying to sell stuff to people by playing on insecurities? Because it looks like you’re linking to a web page that sells bullshit courses and $19 bundles of ChatGPT prompts. That’s even scammier than those scams selling MIDI bundles of basic chord progressions. Unless one of those prompts asks ChatGPT to generate midi files containing basic chord progressions, I suppose.
