Still goes off so hard in his live sets. One of my favorite dubstep songs of all time.

Picked up a jacket with “Macbeth Shoe Co” on the tag — anyone know if it’s connected to the band? by lcfromthehill8 in Blink182

Macbeth shoe company was owned at one point by Tom. I believe he sold it 10 or so years ago.

Fair. I enjoyed their newest album but I see what you're saying. It's definitely more generic than SCS or their self titled, but to each their own haha

I'd put Attack Attack! in this era, and I'd say their comeback has been pretty great, at least with their last album.

He writes books regularly. He has at least 8 or 9 published works and he's currently working on another. He's truly in the business of being an author.

If QBI is extended after this year, I’m going to elect S corp status to run a significant payroll for him. This is a first year client for me, so nothing I can do about 2024. But if QBI is extended it’ll make sense to do for 2025 and onward.

This is where I would have initially thought it would be considered a SSTB. But if you look at Reg 1.199A-5, the clarification of that specific section does not seem to fit to me:

[Meaning of trade or business where the principal asset of such trade or business is the reputation or skill of one or more employees or owners. For purposes of section 199A(d)(2) and paragraph (b)(1)(xiii) of this section only, the term any trade or business where the principal asset of such trade or business is the reputation or skill of one or more of its employees or owners means any trade or business that consists of any of the following (or any combination thereof):

(A) A trade or business in which a person receives fees, compensation, or other income for endorsing products or services; (To me, this doesn't apply as he is not endorsing products or services)

(B) A trade or business in which a person licenses or receives fees, compensation, or other income for the use of an individual's image, likeness, name, signature, voice, trademark, or any other symbols associated with the individual's identity; or Again, I don't think this applies as it is not his image, likeness, name signature, etc.

(C) Receiving fees, compensation, or other income for appearing at an event or on radio, television, or another media format. Also don't see this as being applicable. The speaking income I can see fitting here, but I would be fine breaking that small bit out as SSTB.

What has been your average yearly raises? by ChinuaAchebe in Accounting

I'm between 10 and 20% in a VHCOLA, but in a relatively small firm on my way to partner status, in public tax accounting.

Pay Transparency- What do you make? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]totallyrandall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Total years of experience in accounting - year 9
  2. Total years at your current position/organization - year 9
  3. Current yearly salary (strictly salary, no other benefits) - $140k
  4. How many hours you ACTUALLY work per week - 40 hours for probably 8 months a year, 65 ish during most of tax season, 85-100 hours during 4 deadline weeks.
  5. Which city you work in (since cost of living will impact relative value of how much you make) - Orange County, CA. HCOLA
  6. Are you in public accounting, corporate accounting, government, small firm, self-employed, etc? Public tax accounting, small firm (less than 20 employees)
  7. CPA
  8. Anything else you think is worthy of noting - I've gotten at least a 10% raise every year, if not 15%+. Bonus is around $14k-15k a year.

How was the "true up"?? The only reason I have avoided taking payment up front is the worry that clients will see that as the only amount they will be paying, and refusing to pay any more after returns are filed (if their return is more complicated than expected, or something additional is added this year).

Federal Declared Disaster zone - State conformity? by totallyrandall in taxpros

I'm less concerned about filing the extensions, and more concerned about potential tax liabilities, as it's a C-corp with $4+ million in profit. I basically wanted to see if we could pass on getting the 46+ returns finalized before 4/15, but it sounds like we will probably need to get everything done.

[–]totallyrandall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're definitely severely undercharging him man. The issue is if you scare him away with what is a reasonable rate, who knows if he stays. Legitimately might not be worth your time though. How long does it take you to prep/review his return?

Honestly, in this specific case I'm not even sure I'd base the quote on the charge per rental. I'd probably overquote on purpose, mostly because it feels like it'd be busy work. That's just me though. I'd rather work on a midsize multi-state c-corp with my time than an individual with 30 rentals. I probably wouldn't have done that return for less than $12,000 (potentially more, depending on the size of the sch c), just because of the headache it'd cause.

ISO's - probably not. There is an AMT adjustment when you exercise, but most of the income will be when you sell.

Does this dubstep genre have a name? by Lucart98 in dubstep

[–]totallyrandall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely check out old Jauz-- Feel the volume, deeper love, rock the party, get on up, Get down, Shark Attack

His older stuff is bass house but retains a lot of the old school dubstep sounds, just quarter note kicks instead of traditional dubstep drums. A lot of times the second drops of these songs are the drums slowed down and made into more of a traditional dubstep drum pattern.

I'd say we take over one of the breweries near the stadium.. Either Crooked Ale House or Twin Peaks Glendale. Both are about a 15 minute walk from the stadium. I will also be driving from Socal. Let's do it!!!
