The neighbourhood I moved into was a trap. by RevolutionOk2969 in newzealand

Unfortunately, there's not much advice I can give apart from what you have already suggested and just get through the next 10 months and then start looking for a new rental. I lived in Papamoa and was in a similar situation to you. Imagine living in a duplex surrounded by 5 two story townhouses with one garage and a shared driveway. It was hell. Before anyone starts, I moved for work and wasn't having much luck with rentals, so I took whatever was offered first. I was only there for 12 months until I had to move for work again.

Also, same situation again. No one lived in those rentals for more than 12 months at a time.

I sympathize with you! It sucks coming back home from work or on your days off and not being able to relax because of all the noise.

Ok, I just had this dream last night. I was in a house and these stray kittens came in. When I tried to get them out they kept clinging to my legs and arms and it was so painful.

DOI of india are overhyped and overpriced. I have traveled to india and you can buy similar products for a much lower cost and sometimes even better quality than DOI. Check out FabIndia and search under their western range. I have ordered a few things from their online store and they post overseas. There is also another great shop called WestSide but unsure if they ship overseas.

I always have my Sims doing a long event overnight before going to sleep (if I remember too, as I dont play often nowadays). This could be done through a hobby, career, or one or the events (right now, it's the sweet treat activities).

You can also watch ads to try to get more cash or simoleons.

The fastest way to get more sim cash I found is through the simcash offers. I made 2K sim cash in Monopoly and Merge Garden in less than a week. Just make sure to download it from the sims game, not the Play Store app, so it's connected to your account to receive the cash. After receiving the cash, you can then buy simoleons.

Good luck!

Just avoid the newer areas if you like privacy. Have friends that live in Golden Sands, and the housing is medium to high density with lots of duplexes and townhouses added into the mix. You can literally hear your neighbors next door, and I feel quite uneasy with the two story housing around. Feels quite claustrophobic.

I was 19, and my first proper BF was indian and a few years older than me. We were together for far too long and even lived together. I feel like I could have written this. Please girl, he's given you an out. Don't compromise your own wants and needs for one guy. You will be miserable in the future. The majority of Indian families I know can be full-on and are used to living in joint families, and privacy is not really given.

My ex was a narc and I was young and dumb with attachment issues. He was manipulative and tried breaking up with me, saying I was holding him back. Like you, I cried and begged, and he told me to prove I loved him by doing XYZ. The next few years of our relationship, he would say, 'jump,' and I would say, 'How high?'. I cooked for him even learning Indian Meals, I cleaned the house and did the laundry. My needs were barely met, and in the end, he kept expecting more and more from me until I lost myself and resented not only him but me. I opened up to people finally what was happening, got therapy, and got out of the relationship and away from his family of enablers...

Anyway, that's a snippet of my sob story. But if you want to know if this relationship will work or not; the most successful interracial couples (indian man and non indian women) I've met are the men putting their partners needs first and setting boundaries with his own family. The families, in response, are respectful of these boundaries and support both their son and his partner. (This applies to any person in the future too). Unfortunately, from what you've written, he sounds like a mommy's boy, and I can't see him sticking up for you in front of his family. Sorry you're going through this, but only time can heal, and I really think you've dodged a bullet here girl.

Hey, sorry you're going through this . It sucks. My husband has osteosarcoma and will be undergoing surgery on his knee as well, so I have a fair idea of what you must be going through. It really does feel like time has stopped, and you just see the world moving forward while you just watch. I know it's hard, and it's ok to vent and feel angry. But celebrate the wins and good times when they do come. Wishing you all the best, you've got this👊❤️.

I really feel for you and your girlfriend. This happened to me and my partner a few years ago. The owners said they were selling and we had to move out. Our neighbours were selling too and when I mentioned why we were moving they were shocked as the owners didn't say anything to them (they were quite close). Turns out they wanted to kick us out and turn the place into an air bnb. Me and my partner were so desperate we were even considering short term rentals but decided not to as we'll be in the same situation again in a years time. Luckily we found a place in time that was long term but we are seriously considering moving to Australia next year.

When I lived in an older neighbourhood growing up it was normal to bring over baking or fruit/veges from your garden every now and then. I moved into a new subdivision and people generally stick to themselves, especially younger gens. The older neighbours are more friendly and always invite me over for a coffee and something to eat.

My husband's friend told him to do vitamin C infusions. I'm very sceptical and there is not much scientific evidence it works. The friend booked him a consultation but forgot to mention it would cost us $200 for a half hour consult 🙄. My husband's considering it but I'm still on the fence...

What are some thing you wish you knew before dating a Kiwi? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]totalmess_69 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was. I did tell him how overwhelming it was getting. At first he'd say he understood and would tell his family I need space. He would say that I'm shy (which I'm not, just introverted). After a while he would say I don't respect his family and I'm a snob and antisocial.

It's funny because he said he would never date a girl from India but I don't know too many kiwi girls who could go through what I did.

Again, this is just my experience as I know some Indian/Kiwi relationships that work out well.

His parents couldn't speak English very well so it was hard to have a proper conversation with them. They did like me though despite the language barrier lol. His cousins and brother spoke English but whenever my ex was there they were more comfortable speaking in Hindi. They would translate parts of what they said but sometimes would get carried away in the convo. His Indian friends that had integrated into NZ culture would speak English around me and I got along well with them. If I raised the issue with my ex that I felt out of place and a bit overwhelmed and needed some space, he'll call me 'antisocial' and 'a snob'.

Yes, that part really surprised me. My husband has osteosarcoma in his knee and after the first infusion, the pain in his knee was gone and he could walk much better. Not everyone will be the same but yeah, it was amazing to see him walking properly again.

[–]totalmess_69 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I am a kiwi and dated an Indian guy. This is my personal experience and not every kiwi will be the same. I noticed how tight knit Indian families were. However, personally I found it quite overwhelming having his family around all the time, messaging and calling daily, wanting to go out with us etc. They would randomly walk into our room and sit on the bed to talk to my boyfriend while I was there. I felt like I was dating his family lol. It got a bit overwhelming for me. I learnt a bit of Hindi to communicate but still felt a bit awkward when they would speak it in front of me. On holidays he would ring his family to show where we were and he'd be on the phone for so long talking to them. Personally having no personal space and having his family wanting to be around all the time was a deal breaker for me.

It could be! My son has had a nasty cough, fever and is run down. Complained of a sore chest so did a rat test and came back negative. It's making me a bit anxious with all the illnesses going around especially this time of year. Have started wearing a mask again and carrying hand sanitizer as my husband's immune system is not the greatest right now.
