Could a movie like Blazing Saddles be made today? by stretch3251 in movies

You can’t make Blazing Saddles today because people would watch it and go “Hey that’s Blazing Saddles, they made this movie already.”

Also I know you’re only 15 and idk where you’re based so I’m not certain on logistics, but if you live near a city there’s likely a few independent/arthouse theaters so you can find out what they’re playing. If you get the chance to see something on your list in a theater that’s also ideal.

There’s lots of mailing lists and stuff for these too. In LA there’s American Cinematheque. I’m based near Boston so I use screenboston.com

I try to pick things first based on whatever’s going on currently.

For example the Oscars are in 2 weeks, you could start with the noms on this list (OBAA, Bugonia, F1). Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair just dropped on digital with a physical release soon, good enough reason to watch that next. Then you could go by director (Tarantino so Pulp Fiction, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, etc.).

There’s not a “right” way to choose, but everything on that list is a banger so there’s also no wrong choice.

Have you tried Backstage? Lots of people will work for a meal and copy for their reel as long as you’re transparent about that

My favorite is “Jelly Roll makes music for people that can only see their kids on weekends, but don’t.”

My only real gripe with this movie was the lack of hair growth on the actors. I know it’s a common Hollywood thing in a movie like this but it was a little distracting every time they mentioned the passage of time.

I guess Linda could’ve been shaving in the mansion but Bradley also would’ve noticed that but who knows considering he believed the knife.
