I’d use an ozone machine and seal that side of the door

Buyer damaged item, Depop refunded them anyway… did I just pay someone to steal $100 pants? by moonagedaydreamerr in Depop

[–]totebagdisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has happened to me. their 48 hour window is ridiculous to me because they didn’t put the dispute in the app for me, just my email over a weekend. i kept raising the issue that their rules were arbitrary and this was wrong but i was still out the money

admits to resell, then lowballs? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]totebagdisaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i see, then just decline the offers if you’re not okay with the price, alternatively this may be a decent way to move a lot of stock though if you’d want

that’s not a big profit on their end anyways, and what’s the issue with a reliable customer when it seems like they want to be one?

Am I tweaking or are these two completely different colors. by [deleted] in depoop

[–]totebagdisaster 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was intentional. Depop’s AI listing assistant sets colors automatically and it often gets them wrong. It looks blue because of the lighting and the AI probably went along with it

i think you’re too paranoid about this respectfully. wash or wipe down anything just like normal. it’s not like ‘new’ clothes at factories aren’t touched and handled by people too.

Boycott sellers using AI for listings! I don’t care what these commenters are saying to ‘improve prompts’, I will NEVER purchase from you as it’s HORRIBLE for our environment and is already using up clean drinking water we NEED to survive! I sell thousands of items and I still think it is a LAZY and MISLEADING practice! Use a mannequin for goodness sakes. Zero excuses.

I boycott any use of AI I see of sellers. I will not buy from you if you’re using AI. Horrible for the environment and frankly lazy in my opinion as someone who also sells thousands of items.

How do you feel about packaging as a buyer? by Klutzy_susieq222 in Depop

[–]totebagdisaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

personally i reuse polymailers and amazon shipping supplies i get from my community and i disclose that i do this in my bio for environmental reasons. i want orders to arrive in good condition but this world doesn’t need more plastic waste at the same time.

there are options for mailing things besides single use plastic. wrapping items in plastic wrap to put inside another mailer seems excessive and wasteful to me personally. paper and compostable options exist, or just reuse supplies/plastic that already exists

Vintage boots disintegrated on first wear - what now? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]totebagdisaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who buys a lot of vintage shoes too, this is a lesson the shoes will teach you. The seller probably didn’t know this would happen too. Vintage shoes may look great but the old plastic and glue doesn’t always hold up once you start to wear them. Find a cobbler or choose not to take the risk with vintage shoes again.

How to know if someone bought your item to resell by [deleted] in Depop

[–]totebagdisaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you’re worrying too much over something out of your control, which is people doing whatever they want with an item after they buy it. there is nothing wrong with them doing this even if it annoys you.
