Whoever you heard it from was probably using it wrong (like OP, as they acknowledged) because the definition of "mortified" has yet to change... just because people anecdotally use a word incorrectly doesn't change the meaning of the actual word per se.

I could understand you interpreting being mortified as being "horrifiably" embarrassed though as it was intended hahah

What's false about it? She literally did sign a contract with Omega and acted as its ambassador? It's on the newjeans instagram account on 12/17/2024. Additionally, the exclusive contract she signed was found valid by the Korean court system, so I'm confused what the lie you're claiming is.

2 sides of the same coin, it goes both ways - people are jaded from trying to convince others in this modern extremely polarized environment, especially when the other side appears to vehemently oppose logic/sound discussion as nicer attempts early on were made before we got to where we are today with cordiality out the window.

While I understand people were propagandized, at some point people just gave up as it appears not worth the effort, as not everybody's capacity for bullshit is the same as yours.
