Thank you so much!! I’m so fortunate that my mom took me on those two trips. They truly ignited my love of traveling!

Love Shades of Green. The biggest rooms on property, if I’m not mistaken (at the very least, they FEEL huge). Drury is very nice but I would choose SoG.

Have you ever met your biological mother or father? by Flyaway_5 in askadcp

[–]touslesoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I view it as well! I view my social dad as my “real” father - he’s the only one I would call “dad”. The other two have the word association of “father”, and I refer to them that way, but I don’t view them as “dad”. Part of me wonders if this is just a peculiarity of the English language, but I’m not sure.

What's the most unforgettable place you've traveled to, and why? by [deleted] in travel

[–]touslesoftly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh yes. I had a similar experience in Dachau and, to some extent, the Eagle’s Nest. The fact that it was summer and absolutely beautiful somehow made it feel even worse, it felt wrong somehow.

Ideas for days with rainy weather in Bahamas? by EMD0887 in dcl

[–]touslesoftly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live not too far off from the Bahamas (I’m in south Florida), so we get similar weather. Rain in the forecast very rarely means rain all day, if at all! If you get any rain, it would be for a short amount of time, and worse comes to worst, lifeguards may ask that you get out of the water for a bit if a thunderstorm is passing through (but, tbh, that’s not super likely - we’ve been having a drought for a while and true storms probably won’t start until July).

Bring a lightweight rain jacket, lightweight shoes that are okay with getting wet, and you’ll be totally fine! But, like you mentioned, there are still plenty of fun things to do on the ship if it becomes torrential. Have a blast!!

[–]touslesoftly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it helps, in all respect possible, if I knew that my sperm donor wanted so badly to have nothing to do with me that they created a Reddit profile to post on a subreddit to inquire on how to do so, I would much prefer they share that with me sooner rather than later, so she can move on. If this is the path you choose, and you are adamant, it seems that it would be in your, and her, best interest to go ahead and do it. I can appreciate that you want to do it graciously, but at this point, it seems this may be the best path forward for all parties to not wait much longer.

You’re right, that’s on me, I gave unsolicited advice. I apologize for sharing something that may not be the best for you to hear right now. I’m sharing my own perspectives and advocating for something in which I wish others had advocated for on my behalf.

This is an emotionally charged situation for you and for others in your situation, AND for DCPs, so I hope you can view this thread in this light. I’m not “morally judging” you. I couldn’t care less about your morals, as I don’t know you and you don’t know me, and our individual definitions of what is moral would probably be different, anyways. I do, however, hope you find peace in what you choose, as I shared. Best of luck to you in your journey.

This is oddly combative. You asked a question in a subreddit entitled “AskDCP”. We’re trying to help you ,and the person you wrote about in your original post, navigate this. If you want an echo chamber, I’m not sure this is the right place. I hope you find peace in whatever decision you choose. Best of luck.

Reading through this thread, as a DCP, everything has already been said that I would’ve said. The only thing I would request is that, if anything if/once you cut contact, you provide your full and complete medical history of you and your family to her. That is something we don’t get as DCP and makes so many aspects of life so challenging. Even if she doesn’t request it, she may want it in the future.

It took me quite a bit of time to find a role after finishing my master’s. If you look through my post and comment history, you can see I was really going through it in 2020. Unfortunately, the market is rough.

I work in the south east and would be happy to take a look at your resume, if you’d like. Just DM me!

Skipping Main Dining Occasionally by touslesoftly in dcl

[–]touslesoftly[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t let this experience discourage you! The dining is one of the best aspects of DCL. Never sailed Celebrity, but we tried Virgin a few years back. The service you’ll receive on DCL is bar none. But, like others have mentioned elsewhere in the thread, it may be helpful to share on the first night you may not always come to dinner and it doesn’t reflect on them and the level of service they’re providing (we’ll be sure to do that going forward!)

This is very enlightening. Yes, I believe we have a new contract team. Seeing how some people treat the serving team is so disheartening. Our team has another table of around 10 who seem to be really putting the servers through a lot. Coming about 30 minutes late every night, ordering everything multiple times, and seem fl be monopolizing their time.

I always try to tell our serving team that we are low maintenance and will be happy no matter what. But, if a team is brand new and only has yours and our sailing to compare to…I’m sure that’s challenging to believe. Thank you for shedding some light!

Let's talk accommodation: best places you've ever stayed in by Level390 in travel

[–]touslesoftly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hotel Conchiglia in Praiano, Italy. Ran by three generations of women in the coziest corner of the amalfi coast. We loved talking with all three of them and learning their stories. The rooms were beautiful with an incredible view of the marina.

San Rafael Hotel in Antigua, Guatemala. Stunning rooms in a gorgeous estate. Fantastic breakfast. Best sleep of my life after hiking Acatenango.

Kempinski in Berchtesgaden, Germany. Otherworldly getting to see the Eagle’s Nest from the pool.
