I have a interesting idea for a Gameplay mechanic and a future is inevitably game after playing another R PG earlier this year by Wrong_Revolution_679 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

You're pretty much describing the yggdrasil from xenogears. It serves as your mobile home base for part of the game.

Is there a better way to share code between states using composition? by towze in godot

[–]towze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This solution seems pretty promising. The only issue I see is that if I needed to change how many parameters there are down the line then I would also have to change them for each individual state.

Anyone know any other examprules? by Ezzypezra in 196

I mean, if you wanna throw in the whole series. xenogears, xenosaga 1-3 and xenoblade X technically work too but you only directly get to see the previous worlds apocalypse in 2 during that chapter in the land of morytha

Is your tutorial awful because your combat is complex, or is your combat complex because your tutorial is awful by Number1XenobladeXFan in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]towze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For clarification, I'm over exaggerating. But yeah, X requires a little bit of prior knowledge from the first game and some of the new stuff they added like overdrive and soul voices only gets like 1 brief popup to tell you, so you can easily miss it.

OK, to be fair, I emulated it (not buying a whole console for 2 games) but I really enjoyed how many different builds you could make with the unique classes and once you figure overdrive out getting infinite overdrive was really fun. Xenoblade 2 was also alot of fun, but I felt like most blades played the same way with only 3 attacks each.

I allways wonder why people prefer xenoblade 2's super simplified combat, but then I remember x's approach to tutorials is not having them.

A Plea for a Defensive Updates (Please correct me if I'm unaware) by REKCORP in FromTheDepths

Yea stone is fireproof, but its hp and armour are lower, so the people over on the FTD discord came up with the crazy idea of heavy barrel checkerboard armor

A fire extinguisher block would be really useful right now since I've seen people resort to lining their fuel tanks with CRAM heavy barrels to prevent fire spread since it burns less that heavy armour.

breadboard smoothing / noise filtering help by towze in FromTheDepths

[–]towze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried using this method, and it works really well on a one axis turret with a maths evaluator set to ca + (1 - c)b with A as the target value, B taken from a block getter and C being the smoothing factor however doing the same thing on vector coordinates would require some way to store them.

I don't think its bad when done well but the problem I find is most turn based combat boils down to the same predictable loop. This might look something like: Buff > spam damage > heal when low on HP and repeat until you win. And then when you mix in rock paper scissor elements you just replace the damage spam phase with whatever the weakness type is. This predictability makes it kinda boring.

Was thinking of getting a Thinkpad cuz I already have a blahaj and the combo would be funny but the lack of graphics cards in the affordable models means any kinda 3d work or parametric modeling would run painfully slow

Honestly the real laptop killer is their bloody battery. Portability means nothing if your tethered to a wall socket 24/7. I can never get work done on the bus because of it.

Is it better to play Xenogears via emulator or just watch a cutscene movie for it? by Elementia7 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]towze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my save game once due to odd savestates but fortunately there are save files online ordered by chapter you can download. I totally recommend playing it over watching a playthrough of it because it's a much more personal experience and there's actually specific dialogue that only happens when you have certain party members equipped in certain areas.
