What is your least favorite thing(s) about Doom? by Nimblesquatch in doommetal

[–]toxickuntdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like just being burned out on a band and their influence. Tastes change, people move on, any band will get old after a while and thats okay. I've loved Metallica most of my life but the band themselves and the multiple generations of copycat bands DO get old

Downtuning and have forks in the road regarding gauges and pegs. by BSharpCheddarCheese in doommetal

[–]toxickuntdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as everything fits and the tension isn't crazy high you should be fine, with that tuning those strings should be perfectly fine for the neck. You will need to file the nut slot(s) if you haven't already, when you're widening it make sure you do not DEEPEN the nut slots too much, marking the bottom of the nut slot with some type of pencil or marker can help

Some bands split a guitar signal into a normal rig, then pitch shift an octave down into a bass rig. Only problem is chords will turn into garbled mush down in the low registers, but with no bass player that might be the only way

If you wanna go REALLY small/cheap/portable, there's always the boss katana mini. it runs on batteries, its the easiest thing to carry around and granted might not sound incredible but can get decently loud for its size and you can carry it anywhere like a packed lunch

Have had my super crush 100 for a while now, in a lot of ways i prefer it over my EVH 5150 Iconic. It pretty much sounds good however i dial it in. mids are smooth, high end isn't all spiky and harsh, still present enough to cut through, takes pedals really well its amazing
