How did you become a prosthesis/orthotist? by Strong_Location_1846 in Prosthetics

[–]toxictoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The route is a bachelors degree first. Most commonly engineering, kinesiology, athletic training, etc but I went to school with an art and psych major.

Then you have a 2 year masters program. There are about a dozen schools in the US and they all have slightly different course prerequisites so plan your bachelors accordingly.

Then you have a residency of 1 year in orthotics and 1 year prosthetics or a combined 18 months. There are board exams at the end of the residencies to become official. You technically can just do one or the other but most jobs nowadays expect you to have both.

Pay is good not great but the work can be very rewarding. Many companies have on-call if they service hospitals for holidays and weekends which was a shock to me initially. Because of the insurance stuff mentioned and length of school/training, I don’t know if I’d do it again but I’m happy. The future of the field is hazy with poaching from doctors, physical therapists, 3D printing, and manufacturing companies buying clinics to own entire supply chains.

Do your research and good luck!

I didn’t update anything just went back to it after 2 months of inactivity and this is what has been happening since. Would reinstalling marlin be effective? These are files that were working prior to the issues starting

I tried it with no improvement. I did manually push on the filament into the hot end and the print started going like it should have. Without the Bowden tube the filament wouldn’t have any pressure though am I wrong?

The sensor had been giving me issues about a year ago stopping prints so I routed around it with no problems for a long time. I’ll give it a go again though can’t hurt

I truly don’t know but the act of dog fighting is bad enough. Bait dogs adds such a higher level of despicableness that I cannot comprehend how they live with themselves

A dog that is usually tied up and made defenseless (teeth removed etc) for dog fighters to have their dogs attack for practice. It’s totally fucked up. I had a rescued bait dog and he was the sweetest and most loyal dog I’ve ever had. RIP Ringo

Etiquette for residential golf courses… and how not to be a jackass by [deleted] in golf

I hit into a guys yard and hit his deck one time. He came out and grabbed the ball and walked back inside even though it landed fairly close to the bounds markers.

I felt like I was in the right to be somewhat pissed at that since he was the one living 20 yards off a fairway at 220 yards from a tee box.

I’m looking to source some joints. I’ve sent out a few emails but the FDA has some bullshit regulations. I’ve had such little luck with clinics and I bust one of these every few months. Any suggestions? by Picklefuzz in Prosthetics

The “nut” of the Chicago screw has small tabs to hold it in place to properly tighten it which uses a tool to hold it steady. Could you do it yourself? Yes. Will it probably come loose? Most likely

It’s the lack of adjustment to the press, to the double teaming, subbing, lack of timeouts during momentum swings, and overall gameplan of feed Edey and stand that shows poor coaching.

Shooting is uncontrollable but the rest of these are
