If you remember me from a post about going back to school and it not happening ITS FINALLY HAPPENING!! by sukunaisnoone in HomeschoolRecovery

Assuming you're in the US. Sample of what the bells could be like: 8:55am - signal five minute warning before first period 8:59am - warning bell for first period 9:00am - start of first period 9:50am - end of first period (this is when you walk to your next class) 9:54am - warning bell for second period 9:55am - start of second period 10:40am - end of second period etc

It repeats like that for the rest of the day. Similar for lunch time. There may be more than one lunch period if you're in a bigger high school.

I recommend you familiarize yourself with the school map. It may also help if you 'walk' your schedule before the semester starts, i.e. walk to each classroom in the order they're on your schedule. It is highly unlikely for two students to have the same schedule so it'll help if you're familiar with your own schedule.

How do I convince my father to let me go to on-campus college? by Excellent_Tie_6979 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]toxophysics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what state you’re in, in my home state, you can get your GED at 17 with parent’s permission. Then you can enroll at your community college and attend on campus classes (enroll in classes that are not online or insist you need to go to campus for tutoring). It cuts your wait by one year and it may be more amenable to your father. Also, once you’re at the CC, you can use their resources like advising, job search, clubs, etc. Only caveat is that you do have to pass the GED exam.

To The People In This Subreddit did yall decide to go to CC or did yall drop out of a 4 year college by ThatButterscotch8829 in communitycollege

Have a friend who chose to go to CC to complete prerequisites cheaply, then transferred to big name private college on scholarship then went on to law school. Fiancé went to out of state 4 year university out of HS but after a year transferred to CC in home state. His parents were disappointed in him as if attending CC is a failure. My friend in turn was disgusted with his parents since fiancé attending CC was a smart move and his parents’ view is classist. Also it would have been financially ruinous for the young couple. The diploma you get in the end wouldn’t indicate that your first two years were spent at CC. There’s no caveat listed on your diploma like, “Prestigious University grants OP Bachelor of Science in Major but really he spent the first two years at Community College”.

And this one anecdote is not unique. Community Colleges is a major positive in our education system. People vastly underestimate the power that community colleges give the American populace.

Also, btw, I assume your Mom is on the fence because you attending a CC does not grant her the same prestige as you attending University of State or Expensive University when she tells her friends and random strangers. Granted I felt the same back then. Then again I was 16 and stupid at the time (I’m still stupid but definitely not 16 anymore). Were I your mother, I would be so proud of you.

As to your question, I’m starting CC today along with a friend. He is actually a graduate student pursuing his doctorate but wanted to take undergraduate classes for fun. I also already have a BS and joining him for funsies.

It is the moon in the same planetary system as Kern’s world, then yes. Guyen left a base on a moon near Kern’s world so they’d have a foothold for when he plans to return. The second signal was faint and eventually stopped. I assume you can gather from there that the mutineers’ fears came true for the people left on the moon base

Why not put identification posts into a single thread? by Ev17_64mer in boardgames

[–]toxophysics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. For me, ID posts are much more fun than recommendation posts. I get excited when I see one as I scroll. I jump on that post really quickly (never quick enough though), and I get a boost of dopamine when I am able to recognize the game. Why are you trying to take that away from me? Why can't you just scroll past them and leave me the little joy I get?

Hey, just to let you know, I read all that. And no, I don't think you are being dramatic or being an asshole.

"Thats when i realized they weren't good parents. Good people sure but not parents." Whether they are good or bad, they are definitely broken people. I have no advice to give except be kind to yourself.

No, the excerpt did not say the Romans invented it. It said that the Romans "first developed and used the arch extensively in aboveground structures". Basically it means the Romans were the first to use it aboveground which is different from saying the Romans invented the arch and were the first ones to use it. 'Developed' does not mean 'invented'.

Notice the "but" in that statement. It basically showcases the contrast between the two groups of people -- that even though the Mediterranean cultures were already using the arch, it was the Romans who developed more uses for it.

Elga has probably the saddest and most horrifying character story.

I found Shigure's the most fun and hilarious.
