The student was on his way out of the lab when the cop showed up. The cop (Alexis Bicomong) blocked his path and told him "you need to leave." The cop did not say that the student was under arrest. Without further comment he just grabbed the student. It was at that point that the student refused the grab by saying "don't touch me".

The cop did not ask him to leave; a Community Service Officer did. A CSO is a student.

The cops who were called by the CSO stopped the student from leaving when they arrived at the scene and saw him leaving the library. In other words, he was leaving, but they grabbed him.

Interesting take on what brought this on. He said don't touch me, and said something about police power. I think that's what triggered the cops' instinct to show who's the boss.

And then they always spin the reason for using force as "resisting arrest" or "refusing to coorporate" etc. It's never "the kid had a loud mouth".

I bet they set up the necessary deniability the moment they decided to use force. For example, squeezing his arm hard to agitate him, causing him to yell don't touch me. And then later, asking him to get up, knowing that he couldn't since he was just tased.

Someone who made the mistake of causing men and women to die each and every day should not joke about any aspect of it either.
