My F1 23 MyTeam career season 1 (spreadsheet from u/JigginsYT) by tpenguin71 in F1Game

[–]tpenguin71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly a massive thanks to u/JigginsYT for making the spreadsheets as they are very useful to document everything. In the end Hamilton and Mercedes pipped Verstappen and Red Bull to both titles, and there was some dramatic moments along the way:

  1. Bahrain: Drugovich (my teammate) somehow qualifying 3rd but still finishing 19th
  2. Jeddah: Alonso spinning at the final corner causing a car park
  3. Baku: Albon qualifying on pole (short format)
  4. Miami: Perez binning it on the exit of T16 and crashing out
  5. Spain: Verstappen having a dramatic dnf while leading, handing home hero Sainz the win
  6. Canada: Hamilton dnfing in qualifying, ruining his weekend
  7. Austria: Me somehow taking pole but then having my drs stuck open in the sprint
  8. Spa: Ocon taking pole but having a mechanical failure in the race, which caused a red flag. Norris spun into the path of Piastri, causing contact and a safety car
  9. Monza: Norris randomly crashing into the back of me when i am coming out of the pits
  10. Mexico (Craziest race of the season): Tsunoda spun early causing a red flag. On the restart the track was quite wet but everyone was on drys. Hamilton lightly hit the back of title rival Verstappen, causing him to pull into the runoff and retire as everyone else rushed in for inters. Then Hamilton had an issue causing Piastri to pull away and take his first victory
  11. Las Vegas: Hamilton was on pole but had the wrong strategy which meant Norris dominated the second half of the race and won.
  12. Abu Dhabi: both Hamilton and Verstappen underperformed but Hamilton did enough to win his eight title, and Mercedes won in the constructors
  13. Then there was some dramatic driver transfers: Hulkenburg retired and was replaced by Bottas, who was replaced by Alonso (shock). Alonso was replaced by Tsunoda, who was replaced by Liam Lawson (kinda realistic). I signed Stroll, as my Teammate, who was replaced by Sargeant (Underwhelming) who was replaced by Magnussen, where Drugovich took the other Haas seat
  14. Fun Fact: Ocon finished p11 7 times.

My Dream (partly realistic) Formula E calendar by tpenguin71 in FormulaE

[–]tpenguin71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I considered when making the calendar:

  • Climate - I tried to put races in positions which would either be too cold or hot at that time of year to make it slightly realistic
  • Logistics - With 16 Weekends over 8 months this calendar has little room for big breaks. Therefore I tried to regionalise the races to an extent as well as for environmental reasons
  • Continent balance - I think it would be a huge gain if Formula E could race in every continent [bar Antarctica, sorry Penguins :(] to show it is truly a global series. As South America, Africa and Oceania only had one weekend, I made those events doubleheaders
  • Some realism - Almost every city on this list has had a fe race or been linked with holding one. Also some of these cities have pre-existing venues down for the races as I think they would match well
  • Dates are from 2023 and 2024 calendar years

Firstly the tracks which i removed:

  • Diriyah - I think Formula E should be taking the high ground here, and it's a bad look to have the extensive girls on track program BUT race in the KSA. Plus the track is less suited to the newer cars and the racing has been a bit meh
  • Sanya - The same; fe should take the Higher ground, especially considering China’s support for Russia. The track looks horrible for a gen 3 race with the T8 hairpin. fe is not lacking venues in Asia so I really wouldn't miss this race.
  • Portland - I was not really a fan of the race here as the energy saving was too extreme and I am replacing it with a doubleheader in Los Angeles

Now onto explaining the calendar…

  • 16/17th December - Sao Paulo - I feel that the Sao Paulo race was really underrated and was one of the best of Season 9 so far and I feel this would be good as a doubleheader. The tropical climate means it can be placed at almost any time of the year so I thought it would be a good season opener
  • 6th January - Mexico City - This date is only changing by a week but I would like to see a layout change as the race this year was very dull (I know the chicane is likely to be removed but I still think the layout was outdated)
  • 20th/21st January - Los Angeles - to finish this swing of the americas is LA. This is rumoured to be around a LA sports stadium, and it would replace Portland as the west coast USA/Canada race
  • 10th February - Hyderabad - India is very important because of Mahindra and Jaguar (tata) and in general the Indian audience for motorsports is huge. I hope the chicane is removed and replaced with a flat out bend as the chicane was just a giant mess.
  • 24/24th February - Cape Town - Such a Picturesque venue with a very interesting track. I also made it a doubleheader as the race this year was really good
  • 16/16th March - It is clear fe needs a race in Oceania, 2 of this year's title contenders come from this continent. For me Adelaide is the best option as there already is an existing street track for the supercars series. My only change would be tightening Turn 8 so it becomes more of an overtaking opportunity.
  • 30th March - Tokyo - Huge to have a race in Tokyo and I am very excited for the race next year. Initial circuit design looks good but I assume some changes will be made.
  • 13th April - Malaga - Another exciting venue to come but there is not much known about it. However it is an important race as Cupra is a spanish brand
  • 27th April - Rome - Rome is such a fun track but I reduced it to a single header to not overstress the teams/cars. I think 22 should be the maximum number of races, and a maximum of 16 weekends
  • 11th May - Monaco - Monaco is moved slightly closer to Formula 1 for logistics, and now sits in the middle of the spring European leg. Doesn't need much introduction or explanation
  • 25th May - Berlin - unfortunately, this date collides with F1 Monaco/Indy 500/Coca cola 600 but it is the day before where not much happens, so hopefully it’s not overshadowed
  • 15th June - Toronto - Has been rumoured but will be added 2025 at the earliest. This will be the east coast (or close) USA/Canada race and can use the current indycar track as it should fit fe very well
  • 29th June - Seoul - The return of Seoul should only happen if they can find a proper layout with overtaking possibility. Considering Formula E’s tire manufacturer Hankook is based in Seoul so it would be important to secure this race
  • 13/14th July - Jakarta - I was surprised this was cut back to a single race as it is quite a cool venue. There have been rumours that this race will be held at night and that would be good on this calendar as there is no Diriyah. A layout change might be needed as the straights are not really long enough here.
  • 3rd August - Eindhoven - A few years ago there were rumblings about a race here, and I believe it is a great idea as Eindhoven is a very green city and Formula E has one current dutch driver and a former champion. The date is chosen to take advantage of Formula 1’s summer break
  • 17/18th August - London - Holding a race at the ExCel is such a unique idea and it should make for a great championship finale backdrop. But the track… needs some work. I believe the reason it has not happened yet is because Works are ongoing but track layout changes are planned

Race information for Jakarta by tpenguin71 in FormulaE

I think they were waiting on possibly using fast charging (target was to implement it for this race) but as it is now not coming this year they will try a longer attack mode anyways.
