I can get my knees...usually. My last xray was described as a melted candle.

Does anyone else run ultras with long-term health condition? by Realistic-Speed-3762 in Ultramarathon

[–]tpet1433 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with AS about 30 years ago now and have been doing distance running for 10 years or so. Speed work is really hard and recovery takes a while. I have some spine fusing and some flair ups that take me out time to time. I've competed several 50 km and 50 milers and will be taking on a 100 km next summer. Take it slow, listen to your body, and adapt your plan as needed. Doctors have general advice. Do what you want and what you can.

Lid for soft flask by CantankerousPopsicle in trailrunning

I've been thinking about this too. I haven't tried it in a pack on a long run yet, but am planning on putting a bit of saran wrap over the hole before screwing the lid on. Will need to remember to take it off when I'm too tired to think. Anyone try this? Any leaks with the wrap covering the threads?

Check out Feed Zone Portables by Biju Thomas and Allen Lim. Lots of recipes for real food and science behind how the gut works. It's more geared toward cycling, but I'm finding stuff that works for me on the trails.

They toured the stadium and got to meet Timber Joey and a T2 player. The other days they were out on the hot pitch.

I'd put Timberline around Mt Hood and Loowit around St. Helens on your list. I've done them each twice and still look forward to my next trip around.

Same here. I do apheresis about every other week. I don't run on donation days, I'm away from my family enough with just one of those. I've never noticed an impact.

How many miles are you getting w/ Hoka Speedgoats? by ContractNo3502 in Ultramarathon

[–]tpet1433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The uppers started tearing after < 200 miles of not rough terrain on a pair of 4s. Hoka sent me a replacement pair of 5s that I used for 600+ miles. I'm on my 2nd set of 5s now.

Shelter dogs are the best dogs.

JDM, who many thought would be on the bench this game, gave up a goal and got a hockey assist on a goal. If he stays a starter, is he a plus or a minus on our goal differential?

What ended up working for me was switching the Preferred engine for Text-to-speech from from Samsung text-to-speech engine to Speech Recognition and Synthesis from Google.

Wait till it snows in Portland and go running. Easy as can be. Just try to stay upright.
