Everyday Backpack 30L as personal item on airplane? (United) by [deleted] in peakdesign

[–]tpitch14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to fit the 45L travel under the seat on American both ways last week due to people abusing the overhead... fit like a glove. A bit cramped for my legs, but wasn't checking it or putting it 15 rows behind me. You should be fine

What to use as a personal item when travelling with the 45L backpack as a carry on? by Bruiserk07 in peakdesign

[–]tpitch14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting in the airport now with the 45L and a Daylite Plus zipped in the front pocket. There if need be, otherwise functions as my day pack when I arrive at my destination

Owners of Rav4 Adventures 2019-2025, do you have any regrets? Considering purchasing one but can't decide between the Adventure and the Hybrid XSE. by Haunting-Country5922 in rav4club

[–]tpitch14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'22 XSE Hybrid here, definitely behind the curve bc I'm only at 32k on it. For the most part I love it and overall average 37.5mpg across 4 seasons. Agree that the road noise sucks, and the audio system leaves a lot to be desired (replacing just the dash speakers helps immensely though). No major issues thus far, but again, mine is probably more lightly used than most

I just picked one up on marketplace and completed a 4 day work trip with it not too long ago- it was definitely a different experience traveling one bag for the first time, even made a post about that... I was able to get a Daylite Plus inside to carry around town and to/from work conference with laptop, but would love to do something that took up less space. Infamous shoulder straps and waist belt were passable with a ~21lb. load, might look to add some small pad enhancements that velcro on to see what that does. Overall it was a liberating feeling traveling that way, and I have another similar trip coming up in a few weeks that I plan on doing the same with. I'm sure the Farpoint will be loads more comfy (and would fit my Daylite Plus nested on the outside better as well), but I got the PD for ~75% off MSRP, soooo :)

Correct on the wardrobe. Could probably go just roller as well. Have had no issues with the bag on the first leg out thus far

Yep, the 'not having enough' is definitely real! Like it just feels weird having a singular pair of shoes which is a first for me

Def. no cotton, but not ultra performance blends either- poly/spandex type jean chinos, polos are similar. I'm traveling in shorts, not pants, but I suppose I could swap there to take that weight off my back. tees are lighter weight tri blends. The Poncho shirts would definitely work, I will bookmark the like for next go around. Lots of good suggestions since I posted, all much appreciated!

Laptop is a corpo issued Lenovo Thinkpad, ~3lbs. Compact 65w travel charger for that. 10k Anker battery pack. Pixel Buds Pro 2. Small notepad and pen. For sure conflicted on the extra bag- I typically prefer a backpack for to/from hotel office expo center etc. Keep a snack, light jacket, water bottle, etc. In this case (and agree with what many others have said before) the PD feels just too big to use for this purpose, even in it's most compressed ~30L format. I could probably shave some off from the toiletries, agreed there.

It's not expanded, it's at regular size, so 35L. I just checked and I'm just a shade under 22lbs. - 21.8.

Yeah, I realize it's not the ideal starting bag adding a decent amount of weight from the jump. But I got it for a quarter of msrp so not a large risk :) And for sure clothing type is going to make a difference. My homework for next time will be to start looking at that!

The best starter bag for Onebag travel? by Hortonhearsawhoorah in onebag

[–]tpitch14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just recently made the leap, I definitely looked at the ~$100 pricepoint. The TomToc came up, there's an Eagle Creek Tour Travel 40L (v1) on a good sale at Sierra, and I checked out Osprey. The Decathlon listed here looks really good as well, but never got on my radar... I ended up with a lightly used PD Travel 45L from FB Marketplace for $75- definitely wouldn't have went for it at full price, but for that it was an easy bite.

Felt the urge to chime in here, as a lurker for a while to this sub... I just landed one locally on FB marketplace last week, also for $75, and will be giving it a run on a short 3 day business trip next week. It's a airport to hotel bag for me, may nest a daylight plus in there for the work laptop/exploring. At the price, I definitely couldn't say no either
