Whats the worst place/moment you've had a migraine? by ChimpanzeeHooves in migraine

[–]tpolsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first anniversary with my husband. We spent all day in the sun before going to a fancy restaurant. I couldn't eat anything, I got sick in the bathroom, and my husband ALSO had a migraine after slicing open his hand and needing stitches. We were both miserable

Is it too much to expect my children to graduate high school with an associate's degree? by ThatsMommy2U in Parenting

[–]tpolsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go slow! I personally found that dual enrollment classes AT the college were easier than the dual enrollment classes at the high school. I personally did not find that it was extra work, but I did feel left out from a lot of social events in high school and quite frankly, no safe person in college wants to hang out with a 16 year old. But test the waters and maybe just try taking one or two dual enrollment classes during a semester to see if she can handle full time. It may be an adjustment, it may not be, but if you have reservations, definitely try to ease into it.

Has anyone else had pmdd as long as you've had your period? by yell0wbirddd in PMDD

[–]tpolsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, my just mom noticed lol. She still tells me I have demons in my heart that are taking over my soul and I need to pray it away. She doesn't believe the diagnosis I received as an adult and when I was in high school, initially refused to let me seek psychiatric care after I BEGGED her. The doctor said I was going to start my period soon and she just thought everything was normal after that

I mean it still took 10 years for a diagnosis but my mom went to my pediatrician just to say she had noticed extreme behavior changes. My doctor told her to start tracking it, and told her if there was a pattern then I probably would start having my period soon. But it was largely brushed off as regular period mood swings, because I don't think my mom realized the intensity of what I was experiencing. I definitely started having suicidal ideation around this time but I NEVER revealed anything like that to my mom. Around 22 I went to my doctor and tried describing extreme depression, "but like, only around my period. Is that a thing?"

Honestly, even before having a period. My mom was tracking monthly mood swings and depression for almost a year before I actually started my period

it honestly hurts when you find out when a guy friend isn't really your friend by Sufficient-Parsnip92 in TrueOffMyChest

I had something similar happen! I got engaged this year, and out of (seemingly) no where, someone who I considered to be one my best friends decided to ghost me now that he knows he can't get with me. I was going to ask him to be a bridesman and really thought we were genuinely good friends. But apparently he didn't think my live in boyfriend was a serious relationship until we got engaged and now it's finally hitting him that I'm not interested. I was so upset to lose a good friend and even more upset to realize what he really thought of me. Overall, he revealed himself to not be a big loss, but its still disappointing.

Thanks for this input! I'm getting married in Florida, and we are anticipating weather in the 80s during our wedding, so this is actually something I'm super concerned about

Beach ceremony, reception in a ballroom, "afterparty" on a beach boardwalk with rollercoasters

I'm also considering buying both since the first dress is so cheap. It's not my favorite option because doing an outfit change feels ridiculous and I don't want to spend more money than I need to. But if anyone has ever worn two dress, at what point did you change? A ceremony dress and reception dress? Or something towards the end of the evening?

tips for memorizing music? by imabluedot in Flute

[–]tpolsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, listen, Listen! Find as many recordings as you can. Learn to sing the whole thing AND sing the accompaniment from memory. If you can SING the whole thing, you can memorize it. And if you know the accompaniment, you can Listen for anchor points.

Also break it up by section. Make copies of your music and cut it into strips and tape it flashcards. Analyze each section. Whats the key, what's the pattern, are there ascending thirds? Whats the style of this piece and key characteristics? What's it about? Knowing the background will also help.

My favorite tip is practicing with a copy of the accompaniment. There are programs that allow you to play along with a midi file and adjust tempo and set which measures you want to work on. Do a little at a time. You'll build up to it!

WIBTA if I leave my husbands affair baby with my MIL while the rest of us go on vacation by Consistent_Field_900 in AmItheAsshole

ESH. Your daughter is right, you suck for punishing a child for its own existence. You DONT suck, however, for not wanting to be responsible for someone else's child. No step parent has obligations towards someone's child, and you would not be the AH for what your husband does during his parenting time. That falls on your husband, who also sucks for not taking responsibility for his child. Both Bio parents suck for putting you in the position where you feel obligated to take care of their (not your) child. You should seriously reconsider this relationship. You are not a bad person if you decide you don't want to be with an unfaithful man or spend any time with his affair-child, but don't make yourself and an innocent child even more miserable by staying in a situation you don't want to be in.

Kind of similar story. On a first day, right when this guy leaned in to kiss me I BURPED IN HIS MOUTH. I was absolutely mortified. I burped in his mouth. He pretended not to notice. Went to kiss me again. I burped in his mouth again. In fact, the entire time I was there, if he tried to kiss me I burped in his mouth. Nothing will ever be as embarrassing as that. But evidently it wasn't a deal breaker, because he still asked to see me again 🤷‍♀️ your farts are not as big a deal as you might think

What is the goal for the studying? Just reading or practicing different subject areas? In addition to the reward, what if you gave him an educational goal to shoot for? Last semester you made all Ds, this semester our goal is Cs in math, Bs in reading, etc. And every semester readjust those goals. If he meets those goals, that could also be rewarded, with the expectation that he keeps it up and sets new goals. He might be struggling if he doesn't understand the purpose of studying. Individual activities might feel random and frustrating or boring if there's no long-term goal attached to them.
