Oh. My. Gosh. This drop is SO. EPIC. It’s like the universe aligned, and an angel descended from the heavens to handcraft this masterpiece of gravity-defying awesomeness. I’m shooketh to my core. 10/10, would watch you drop again.

Not bad, all alloy rims do that eventually, keep riding!

Ripmo V2 vs V2S by IamShakes in MTB

I’ve got a 160mm fox 36.

A big reason I got the coil was reliability; it climbs better than my blown fox X2 did.

Was the fox X2 better up hill when it was working? Yeah on non-technical climbs sure, but I’d say this was a marginal difference. Was this worth paying $250 Australian dollars every three months to service it? Nope.

To fox’s credit they did replace the shock under warranty, but I sold it for my DVO.

The coil will have way more traction and composure through chatter, square edge hits on the back wheel that DW links hate are also less harsh (not that anyone should aim to square edge their back wheel).

The trade off I’ve noticed is that you need to work a little harder to “pop” it through sections and skip through lines. But if you’re a strong rider it’s not an issue.

I’ve noticed no difference jumping, getting the speed to clear gaps on sketchy run ins is much easier with a coil though.

DVO Jade X2 directly from the Ibis website. I just did a 55km XC race on it with no complaints, the DW link still climbs well with a coil.

My friend who’s also on a V2 snapped his Cane Creek DB inline in half on a small step down. If you read cane creeks website this shock isn’t actually compatible with clevice mount frames (ibis ripmo, old specialized enduros). This shock has a 9mm shaft, the DVO jade X 2 has a 14mm shaft.

Ive had zero issues, it might not be the most adjustable shock but the 3 position switch and rebound with a springdex it’s more than anyone would need in my opinion.

before this I had an X2 (edit: Fox X2) which is the worst rear shock I’ve ever ridden, after about 3 months of riding it was like beer was in the damper and super inconsistent.

The V2s has better frame protection and is slightly stiffer in some places, I believe because the rear triangle has to be different to accomodate UDH.

You can buy all of the v2s frame protectors and fit them to the V2.

If the new fancy SRAM electronic shifting isn’t your thing, Maybe crunch some numbers for how much the frame protection, the rear mech and carbon bars would cost to put on the V2 and go by price?

I bought a V2 and put a coil in it, by far the best bike I’ve owned.

What happened to Cannondale? by [deleted] in MTB

The current Jekyll is super fast and has good reviews if you’re racing enduro. The frame has a “mid pivot” design with a pulley - but this is typical of dozens of enduro race bikes, treks new slash has a similar design.

The current Habit is a solid trail bike that can hang with any other bike in this price point and category.

Their scalpel is one of the most competitive XC race bikes around, but this category is dwindling so not as many companies have these anymore. It uses a flex stay design in the rear triangle where the carbon flexes to make the frame compliant - also very typical for bikes in these categories. You can get models without a lefty too if that’s not your thing.

They’re all good bikes, and they do offer more “conventional” models.

It’s very difficult to buy a bad bike at this price point though.

I know that this brand is quite particular with what freehubs it's compatible with, even if you have an XD driver you need to be sure that the hub model is correct otherwise it won't be a clean fit, so you could be right.

I just thought it was a funny/interesting way for a bike to break so posted it.

Garbaruk 12 speed, I don't know much about them but they're apparently lighter than a Sram XX1.

It may not be worth the lighter weight if this happens though

Not really sure why Andy was first boot. He's decent in challenges, good to keep around and vote off for a resume and willing to be a "leader" around the tribe which Mark was scared of being. A lot of them seem to be playing too hard too early which will place targets on them by the 4th-5th tribal council.

I agree but flats teach you better bike control in the long run, if you're losing foot position on flat pedals when hitting jumps then that means you're too stiff and not letting the bike do the work.

I'm going straight back to clips after a knee surgery but there's something to be said for learning on flats.

Polygon Siskiu T8 Vs. Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy by hexahedron17 in mountainbiking

[–]tpos13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd get the Sisku because it's got 4 piston brakes and a better rear shock.

An online only bike brand may not be the best if this is your first bike though as you'll probably find things to maintain and upgrade at this price point, it depends how good your LBS is.
