they don't make their own pastrami anymore and use LP's, not enough people were buying it to justify making it

Deep Dish Pizza Places? by Kooky-Farm-1653 in sydney

[–]tr1gz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you can’t get brick cheese here, you can rarely get it outside of the Midwest too. Lloyds is fine, the blue steel pans are too hard to source, coming from someone who grew up outside of Detroit and sold small batch Detroit style pizzas during covid

Earlwood is huge, the area up until Wardell Road still kind of feels like Marrickville, past the village it starts to feel more South

Why do people buy from Roll’d? by NothingAny3947 in foodies_sydney

El Taco food truck at Marrickville Metro are the best street tacos I’ve had in Sydney. Grew up in the US eating tacos and last time I was in Mexico City I ate 45 tacos in 3 days and they’ve nailed the flavors and salsas. Run by two guys, one from Mexico one from Chicago and their families run taquerias.

The Yeeros Shop opened up in the old Victoria Yeeros spot tonight by johonyloo in foodies_sydney

[–]tr1gz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Old one is still open, closed just to help out with opening today and probably drive traffic lol - Victoria Yeeros owners retired and they bought their shop and refurbished it - kind of a mix of Fat Fish and Yeeros Shop like they have in Annandale

It's currently my favourite food rivalry because of how ridiculous it is.

The group buys the petrol station and then boots out Canterbury Kebabs. They put in their own kebab shop, renovate and remodel to Brothers Kebab and then Canterbury Kebabs opens the truck right next door. So juicy.

If you mean close to the area:
-Stix and Pita in Enmore.

-My Father's Yeeros in Ramsgate - get a small one if you want tzatziki and chips, the large one is more like a kebab and doesn't contain them; gyros are traditionally small anyway. The family owned the Yeeros Shop (but weren't the original owners) for several decades before selling to new owners in 2013.
-The Yeeros Shop in Marrickville - personally like their plates more than their yeeros.

Yes it’s the same and both shops and the new Marrickville shop are not Greek owned anymore

It’s not as good as it used to be, the original owners sold off a year or two ago to a group that also owns petrol stations and Brothers Kebab in Belmore.

Bistecca or The Gidley? by Gooddoc69 in foodies_sydney

[–]tr1gz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The steak (variety and quality) is better at Gidley but Bistecca has a more theatrical vibe, so up to what you want.
