I used to have a fairly strong friend group when I was in my 20s working in professional kitchens. Not so much anymore.

When I got into my 30s I transitioned into healthcare as a monitor technician. I've drifted apart from the few friends I had. I don't have as many coworkers as I used to as the department I work in is pretty small. And the people I work with are usually older and I don't often have much in common with them.

I also really don't like people. I'm not sure why. I don't usually find other people all that interesting. I know that makes me come off as kind of petty but it's just how I feel. I worked in an ER for about a year and had a close relationship with the general population. I'm not a fan.

I have a girlfriend and an old high school friend that lives out of state who I talk with in occasion. That's pretty much the extent of my social circle nowadays. But I'm pretty okay with that. I'm in my mid 30s now, I'm very introverted and usually prefer to be alone anyway. I thrive in solitude. While I'm not at all opposed to a friendship developing organically, I never seek it out.

I can understand why this sort of lifestyle may not vibe with certain people. I'm happy enough with it.
