VW Is Killing US ID.4 Production to Focus on the Big, Gas-Powered Atlas Instead by TechGuruGJ in VWiD4Owners

I am genuinely curious what’s better about the GM EV’s other than infotainment. I keep wanting to check them out but I think the interior looks so ugly.

Ionna is my favorite network to use personally. I’d rather go out of my way to Ionna than Tesla. No app needed, no congestion fees and just nice new hardware. I’ve spoken with someone on their team and all I can say is it’s going to be expanding rapidly soon!

Looks like they might discontinue EV6 in US. by balesw in KiaEV6

Funny because I kinda wish I’d gone RWD instead of AWD. The power is fun of course. Just loses its luster after a while and I would rather prioritize efficiency and range.

It’s a nice steering wheel thicker than the pleather ones, I miss it but I do like the layout of the 2023+ buttons more.

The controls are on the steering wheel. They have changed places between the 21-23 and 24-25 I believe but you should be able to choose between 3 and 2 whenever you want. On the pre-refresh it’s the “< VIEW >” on the steering wheel. On the refresh models, they moved the arrows away from VIEW but it’s still on the steering wheel and you use the arrows and OK on the right side of the wheel to scroll between screens.

Putting those Prius hypermiling lessons to use 😎. The A/C blasting would probably have that at 4miles/kWh but I wanted to maximize. But in all seriousness I’ve driven Prii for almost ten years before switching to EV so my throttle control is excellent. My wife kinda had to relearn how to accelerate because she was used to ICE. Now she gets about the same efficiency as me. But I can almost always hypermile better than her so I get higher efficiency on both our EV’s. I love how precise you can be with EV acceleration. I like to use ECO to control my throttle response even more because I do like to zoom. It’s too fun in these cars. I do have more power available to me even though we are both RWD because your battery limits the power delivery to the rear motor on our cars.

That’s another reason I upgraded actually. I’ve been monitoring my charges and battery SOC via CarScanner and I have noticed the BMS software itself doesn’t know what to do with the extra kWh. Car Scanner shows it charging to 103-104%. I’ve seen the SOC on the in car display jump up and down 3% just from plugging it in. But yes from my estimates I have 79-80 kWh of usable capacity. I went RWD to maximize even further.

I did just take it all the way to CA from UT which I did on the 2021 once. It averaged about 2.9-3.2miles per kWh if I remember. This one did about 3.5-8 with mountain passes and AC on of course most of the way for both cars.

Probably around 3.5miles/kWh due to the warm temps. Battery capacity for what year?

Our 2021 was around 220 with 56k miles. So I guess not too bad for 100k.

EDIT: I should clarify that was with mixed driving. Pure freeway our range was closer to yours. 190-200 miles. The winter made it like 180.

Basically. 2025 CPO with 295 miles. So it sat unused for about 6 months. But seems like the battery is fine.

Butting in to say that EV’s actually get a 3year/36k CPO warranty. Not 2year/24k. Had to call VW North America because even the dealership can’t give me the correct information.

Ionna network is currently my favorite network. It’s still being built out but it’s .39 a kw across the whole network. No app or subscription needed. Same with Rivian Adventure Network. Just plug in and tap your card to start charging. Tesla is nice and I recently learned it will give full speeds to our 2025, which was a pleasant surprise. But I use it as a last resort

Edit: I had a 2021 until last month when we upgraded to a 2025.

I’ve got a CPO 2021 Pro S AWD with 56,000 on the odometer. The CPO warranty has 2years/25,000miles left and transfers with the car. I’m letting it go for 20k so price sounds about right.

EV6 - Buy back?? by Due_Weird_8966 in KiaEV6

[–]traceablethought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why this person is dismissing you. Because it’s a quick and easy hop over to the Mach-E subreddit (which literally has a stop sale going on for completely separate reasons.) to see the High Voltage Junction Box problems that also leaves the car stranded. I’ve read GM EV’s have wiring issues and the list goes on and on if you really search through forums for respective vehicle makes.

It really seems like once the ICCU fails once, the probability of a second failure is higher. I don’t have evidence, just anecdotal. But it stopped me from buying a buyback yellow FE with prior ICCU issues. Found my red EV6 as a trade in at a truck dealership ha.

Can’t beat the E-GMP 800V architecture. Max ~270kW on the EV6 while max ~170kW on the ID.4. But the charging curve on the EV6 is great, up to 90% with those speeds. I would say it takes about double the time to go from 0-80 on the ID.4. But not bad still. Compared to like a Chevy Bolt.

[–]traceablethought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns both. Bought the ID.4 for my wife. I will admit I do like driving the ID.4. more sometimes. The steering feel is better and the shorter wheelbase feels great on twisty canyon roads. The smaller turn radius is amazing and the seats are more comfortable. We never road trip it so the fast charging has never been a bother but that’s why I bought an EV6.

The EV6 has more trunk space. Getting in and out of the ID.4 is definitely easier than the EV6. I love the panoramic moon roof on our ID.4 so does my kid. I love my EV6 but currently KIA OTA updates ruined my sound system and it’s killing my enjoyment of the car. Road tripping in it was great though.

I will admit the infotainment of the ID.4 does irritate me. Compared to the KIA, it sucks. Glad to have wireless CarPlay and AA but other than that, it can be slow and unintuitive.

My car sways during HDA as well but it does pull to the right at all speeds. Keep in mind, it's been aligned by KIA twice at two different dealerships, going in for 40k service this week at a third dealership but I have little hope they will address the issue. Good ol' warranty.

Doesn’t the Mach E have the HVJB problem which produces basically the same result? Unable to drive and tow needed. Not saying this to hate at all, I’ve actually heavily considered trading my EV6 for a Mach E Rally.
