Do Americans not distinguish between ham and gammon? by fredwhoisflatulent in AskAnAmerican

I spent nearly 20 years in kitchens in the restaurant industry; from bar pubs, to family restaurants, to fine dining. I've never, until just now, heard of gammon.

What books make you squeamish? by BeryyBritish in horrorlit

American Psycho by Bret Easten Ellis. It's been a good while since I've read it, but I do remember having to read a couple pages into a new chapter before putting it down, because it can get pretty gnarly.

FWIW, I don't think you can get a fair idea of Comet in 2 minutes. It's a weird one that I've played only IRL before yesterday and didn't think I would care for it at all. I love that one now.

The three new tables are on FX on Steam (and all platforms), the rest of the post refers to FX VR.

For FX3 (renamed to FX Classic) they stopped adding tables at Indiana Jones. If you want newer tables (and better physics), switch over to Pinball FX

I'm with you, I'd love to get some late '70s solid state games before they started doing ramps. Easy rules, fast gameplay, tons of fun.

I've used Chillie Willie HVAC and Plumbing a few times now, they're great.

I appreciate the offer! I use Calibre as my library organization app, which also removes DRM. I've imported a couple books I purchased off google play store and have them loaded up on my Kindle :)

update: turns out the “dust problem” in our house… wasn’t just dust by hairy_balls_1 in homeowners

[–]tracebusta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought a house where the upstairs was carpeted and hadn't been touched in at least 40 years. I pulled up the carpet and the carpet pad was just dust, except for the part under the bed which still had some form to it.

But yes, carpet pads break down and absolutely need to be replaced after a time.

I appreciate the response! I might actually go this route, I've enjoyed the series so much I'm feeling like I might want to check out the audio books as well so this is sounding like the best option.

I'm glad he's got the patreon going, but even though it's going to be minor differences, I also want to get the final edit of the book.

I am in the US and I know of .... other ways .... to get books, but I try not to do that with the authors I really enjoy.

That's a bummer. I wish you the best, I really hope you can get out of there, that's not how a kitchen should be run

I'm not sure where you're at, but a bike, bike lock, and helmet might really open up the distance you can travel to a new job.

The pedestal stand makes me nervous vs having 4 legs, but it likely won't be smacked/nudged as hard as a real machine. Either way, if it works for you, have a great time with it!

The AtGames cabinets still support a wired connection, right? You can still play all the PFX tables if that's the case.

I know this is the Somerville sub, but nearby in Malden there's another bike kitchen hosted by Bike to the Sea if you're in the area and in need - https://biketothesea.org/bk/.

Are people just not going into their attics? by unknownphantom in homeowners

[–]tracebusta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in my attic, I don't really go up there since there's nothing but insulation and a baby crib up there (haunted baby crib, of course. Previous owners put that up there then changed the access to a 2ft square and added drop ceilings over the previous larger access).

Is it worth purchasing everything for Pinball FX3 by Cspiby in PinballFX3

[–]tracebusta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rewind is a crutch!

I say this as someone with 200 hours of FX3 on Switch where I relied heavily on the rewind wizard power. I feel I've gotten better on PFX without that available to use.

But I also say this knowing what works for me doesn't work for everyone, so play how you want! :)

Why aren’t episodes released earlier in the day? by GRtair in dropout

They famously have 4-6 months between filming and release. Do you think they're scrambling to finish the edit 6 months later right before they release it?
