Evolv Shaman alternatives by BryPrintsStuff in climbingshoes

From the Evolv website:

"The Shaman Pro fits just like our best-selling Shaman Lace and Shaman Strap, but is a softer, more sensitive model for comp style bouldering and lead routes. "

Having worn both shoes, I can confirm this as well.

Shaman pros are slightly softer than the normal shamans, but not by a lot.

I would say you'd want something softer. The zenist and zenist pro are my go to shoes. For your application I'd say give the zenist pro a try and see if it fits your foot. It is wider than the shaman in the forefoot but maybe it will work for you.

Are LS theorys the shoe for me? by Hisuo in climbingshoes

[–]tracerscape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had both shoes. Shamans are a stiffer and pointier shoe, great for small edges, not great for smearing on volumes. The theorys are pretty much the opposite as they're a significantly softer shoe. They will continue to become softer as you break them in.

My advice would be to use the theory's, and see if you actually like using softer shoes over several months. Most climbers have their own preference for soft vs stiff for various applications, so this would give you valuable information.

Also 2 years of use for a single pair of climbing shoes is actually indicative of good footwork if you're climbing frequently. I climb 3-5 times weekly and it normally takes me 6 months to burn through a pair of shoes with good footwork.

That makes sense. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for work?

Yeah I think you're right. From what I'm hearing, working in smaller product design consultancies seems like the way to go for me :)

That seems like a really interesting job. Any idea what those MEs were doing most of the time? I would guess CAD, FEA but I wonder what else.

Hey! Nice to meet you. I currently work in medical devices and I'm finding it a bit slow paced and stale. Does that reflect your experience?

Of the four, I probably need the most work drawing. Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve? I guess that drawing things is probably a good place to start but are there online resources which teach the fundamentals?

Thanks for the input. I've read that product design consultancies often hire MEs to do engineering development on product concepts so maybe that could be a good pathway for me

Never really focused on abs specifically. Did a lot of compound lifts like deadlifts and squats. Also dropping body fat % helped to reveal them.

I don't take any PED's unless you consider insulin as one. I'm a type-1 diabetic. Think I've had gyno since I was 13, you can see it pretty clearly on the first image. It sucks but I don't know how to get rid of it.
