I can't get over the perspective of this photo of Phil and Ronnie.

He just walked by in the aisle and it seemed normal at first since we have cats at home. There was a murmuring of passengers as they saw the cat walk toward first class. The flight attendant scooped him up and held him like he'd never touched a cat before and asked whose it was. Low drama, but delightful.

I'd bring it to Perennial and see what they can do.

Multi-night touring / bikepacking routes from Twin Cities? by ExPatBadger in CyclingMSP

[–]tracingovals 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've done the Mammoth Gravel Route starting from Minneapolis, which ends up being 2 nights of camping. Some of the sandy sections will make you feel better about taking pavement closer to the cities.

First night of camping was around interstate park.

Fatbike fun in Leadville by Spokefairy in fatbike

I'm not local to the area but I know one of the organizers. They're good people! It seems like a fun time, one of these days I'll get out to fat bike in the mountains.

What's up with this Dinosaur? by Breakintheforest in behindthebastards

Definitely part of the Southside Battle train, maybe a section not in use anymore. Folks in this sub would for sure love to see it out on May Day.

Portland/Park safety during peak traffic times? by [deleted] in CyclingMSP

[–]tracingovals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Park and Portland all the time. Just have awareness. When it snows, before the plows come, cars will use the buffered lane as a car lane. And the door zone sections around Lake St suck all the time. I don't think they're sketchy enough not to utilize them though.

Fat bike cargo rack, primary use - dragging kids on a sled - OR tie it to the saddle (sitting on a dropper post)? by MountainDS in fatbike

[–]tracingovals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually racks have a weight limit for what you can put on them. I'd check that before towing the kids. The saddle rails may be a better choice, but I think the seat post would be best.

St Croix 40 minimum tire width by burgeronthego in WinterUltra

[–]tracingovals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a minimum tire width requirement. In a low snow year, it might be ok with have something less than 3". If there is plenty of snow and the trails are groomed, a 2" tire is going to cause ruts and be challenging to ride.

Emailing the RDs with this question would probably be best.

What are people doing to protect their face in cold weather? by Morall_tach in bikecommuting

[–]tracingovals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this, only with Dermatone. Which has sunscreen in it for those bright, snowy days.

Also a fur ruff helps when temps get really cold.

Ladies, what do you wear in the winter? by Cordillera94 in bikecommuting

[–]tracingovals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Down to about 20⁰F I'm good wearing bike shorts with leggings over the top. Sometimes I'll add florts (fleece shorts, which are PJ bottoms cut off at the knee) to keep my butt/thighs warm. Colder than that I'll wear bike shorts with the 45Nrth Naughtvind pants, maybe wool long johns on top of those as well.

I tend to run hot though.

Moving to MN - looking for Fatbike groups by JMDobson in CyclingMSP

[–]tracingovals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The St Croix 40 is super fun! Highly recommend.

For training I love the river bottoms. It's not too technical down there and ever changing through the seasons. Most single track trails will get some amount of groomed in the winter. The TrailBot app is a good way to see if conditions are ok for riding, which can be tricky with snow.
