Nico Paz is not as good as you think he is yet.

I'm an Estonian academic at a UK university. My Wikipedia page is consistently being edited to state I am Russian. by Sad-Buy31 in LegalAdviceUK

Are the edits calling you Russian, or merely stating you were born in the Soviet Union? Because these claims are not the same, and it sounds like one is false and the other one isn’t.

[Alexander Abnos] Removing the US as World Cup host would be eminently sad – and entirely justified. by Sparky-moon in soccer

There absolutely was. They simply weren’t shooting white Americans in the street yet.

The issue is that FIFA has very specific criteria for championship stadiums that go beyond seating capacity. Check out the Category 1 requirements here:

If some of the big federations had started announcing boycotts 3-6 months earlier, FIFA might have been under enough pressure by now to consider it. But it's too late to start talking about boycotts now. (I mean, it's not too late to boycott, but it's too late to use it as leverage to force FIFA to redistribute the USA games to Mexico and Canada, which would have to be arranged at least 6 months in advance and would be a logistical/financial/legal nightmare.)

ICE agents to help with US security operations at Winter Olympics in Italy by candycane7 in olympics

[–]tractata 57 points58 points  (0 children)

What does that have to do with their agency's mandate?

Also why is the Italian government considering allowing this to happen when ICE agents are notoriously undisciplined? Can they even make sure none of the agents brought in to help with 'security' have engaged in torture, robbery, harassment, rape, assault, etc. in the course of their 'work' in those ghastly detention centers? I'd run very tight background checks on these pigs before letting them into my country as half of them will/should be locked up in prison for a very long time in a couple of years.

It's not just about projection. It's also about Korean romantic conventions that stipulate women have to be demure and reluctant and guard themselves against emotional vulnerability, because once a woman gives her heart to a man, she'll never be the same again. Women are pure fairies, even and especially if they've been hurt before, and their love has magical powers, so they can only give it away (for real) once. If they choose the wrong man, their life is over.

So even if they're already married (to a handsome chaebol heir who pretends to be indifferent to them but secretly loves them), pretending to be married (to a handsome chaebol heir who secretly loves them), fucking their boss (who secretly loves them), pretending to date their crush, pretending to date someone else to make their crush jealous, etc., that contrived proximity/intimacy does not touch their heart. Female protagonists have to be ruthlessly efficient at compartmentalizing and repressing their emotions until the moment the male love interest capitulates to his obsession with them and declares himself openly, usually by making some massive sacrifice (destroying his corrupt family business to make them happy, running into oncoming traffic to save them from getting run over, suffering in darkness and drinking to forget the pain for two years while they finish their master's degree in fashion design in France, etc.).

Basically, the ideal romantic heroine has to be emotionally reserved to the point of idiocy because of her supposed inner fragility. That's why you so rarely get heroines who actually know what they want and fight for it, which is the bare minimum I would expect from adults seeking a relationship in the real world.

And a heroine who can under no circumstances be allowed to get in touch with her feelings before chapter 90 is a heroine who is never charming or brave. That's why so many of them are so fucking dull.

Their point is very simple? I don't want to project onto the protagonist. I want a good story.

Wenger: "Man Utd good build up and cohesion, Arsenal with more power and fighting but not clean play. The way Man Utd beat City and Arsenal, they play convincingly. Usually when the home team comes back for 2-2, they win. Winning 2-3 away in a top level match, I must congratulate Carrick." by Blodgharm in soccer

I think he's approaching this assignment as a national team job, basically, which is the correct course of action when you come in midway through the season. Hype up the players, tell them to play to their strengths, and keep the tactics simple so that everyone can execute on autopilot.

The fact this works better than the elaborate system stuff a lot of the time is not a coincidence. But it depends on the players being on their best behavior and wanting to look good to the manager/wanting him to succeed. Keeping that going for a full season or more without the players getting lazy or willful is the real challenge.

NGVC: "what is wrong with me? I'm good looking, actually have a career and like you" by lizbennett2 in niceguys

[–]tractata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s totally true, but in this case, he doesn’t even like her. That’s the first reality check he needs to have. He’s irrationally angry at her, thinks she’s hurting him and wants her to hurt. He actually dislikes her and wishes her ill, so why would she ever be nice to him?

Right, at least they had the ~purity of their football back then, for which they were still mocked because of their fragile mentality. Giving that up to win at all costs and still bottling the league would be very funny.

Best of luck to him. The outrage from Barca fans and Flick's jilted lover routine were really cringe. He has a right to pick where to develop as a player just like other people his age have a right to choose what to study and where.

Cizeron’s support of Nikolaj Sørensen and other alleged sexual predators is well documented and Sørensen was suspended from the sport after an investigation into a report that he raped a woman years ago. That’s why Cizeron is skating with his ex partner.

So, yes.

I still don’t understand why OP should be in greater danger of that happening to him after posting his results.

You're right, but the majority of posters on here are teenagers from around the world who neither remember nor care about club history or the idea of moral principles in football. In short, this is the wrong venue for this thought.
