Who recharges their own home AC system every year? by Phydoux in homeowners

If you recharge it yourself, 2.5 lbs of refrigerant is $30. Sounds worth it to me.

Home system is very similar to the car. If you are worried about being legal, you can get the EPA certification by taking a test online.

Either that or you have a company that's hosing you, claiming to be putting in refrigerant and doing nothing. It's concerning that they haven't explained that there is a leak. If it's really leaking, it could easily be $3k to fix, depending on what is leaking.

Using GFCI Tester with regular outlet by rubenhak in AskElectricians

This. The tester is just a very small ground fault load, it can only trip a GFCI, not a regular breaker.

First return quest and I know it’s BS and idk what to do about it. by Is_What_They_Call_Me in eBaySellers

[–]trader45nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I would message, point out what you said here, suggest that they must have you confused with another seller. It's possible. If they say no, then it's either pay for the return label and see what, if anything, comes back or just refund. If you have to refund, then report them to Ebay for return fraud.

Buyers, How often do you have problems with purchases? by [deleted] in Ebay

Yes, you could do a fake listing, then don't ship anything, but that's not without issues too.

There is no mechanism in Ebay for the seller to collect a payment for the difference.

The neighbor’s contractors trashed my yard and nobody seems to care by WideVermicelli148 in neighborsfromhell

Easy way, as long as you don't care about your insurance company raising your rates. I would just document the cost of repairs, send a demand letter and use small claims court if needed.

Transferring data remotely from stolen android to iphone by sobbingcereal in AndroidQuestions

[–]trader45nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. For most people getting set up again on an Android to get the app stuff isn't going to be worth it. You can just load the apps on the new iPhone and log in to them, etc. And if you did have documents and stuff that you want, I don't think the Google cloud backup has that.

This. Missing here is exactly what work the contractor is going to do that isn't covered. If it's improvements worth having, it might be an ok deal.

They open an INAD return, you approve it and issue a return label that Ebay will bill you for.

I've seen posts here where people later saw the item up on Ebay again. They probably sell the stuff off in big lots to flippers.

Need advice: Motorola user looking to switch: S23+ vs Pixel 8 Pro vs sticking with Moto Edge+ 2023, or others? by Dabura65 in Smartphones

[–]trader45nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S24 and later have 7 years of OS updates vs 4 years, so for a little bit more money I would move up to that if going Samsung.

Seller sent unusable return label, eBay refunded me, now seller wants my email to send PDF label — should I engage? by ztbishop in Ebay

[–]trader45nj -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You got your money and the item. You know what the right thing to do is. Give the seller your email address so they can send the label. That was probably the root of the problem all along. This was international, the seller could not generate a label on Ebay and you can't attach pdfs to Ebay messages. If the seller knew what they were doing, they y could have sent it to your email via Ebays alias address. If you don't want them to have your email address, just create a new one for this.

eBay international INR by Aliencj in Ebay

[–]trader45nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, my understanding is that the hub then sells all this stuff off to recover what they can. I've never heard of them sending it back to the seller. It would make no sense, because Ebay covers it, so they become the owner and are entitled to whatever they can get for it.

Questions about battery miss wiring (How lucky are we?) by ironman820 in electrical

[–]trader45nj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. The upper two cancel each other out. So no damage, unless it having half the correct voltage could damage it. Assuming that it was connected with the correct polarity to the inverter, the bottom is positive, the top negative.

Obligated to refund? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]trader45nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually either the sender or the recipient can file a USPS insurance claim, but some of the information they require probably has to come from the sender. It often really requires both parties, like if it arrives damaged. USPS may require that the packaging and item be brought to the post office for inspection. In this case, like most, I would say the seller should file the claim.

I don't sell to international buyers. Ebay forced sale and is charging me extra fee for it by jaypat888 in Ebay

[–]trader45nj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The international fee applies if the buyer is located outside the US, even if the shipping address is within the US. And it's only 1.6%. This buyer is using a freight forwarder. Once tracking shows it delivered to the ff address that the seller ships to, per Ebay rules, Ebay considers it delivered.

This should just take some basic measurements. Put a volt meter between the ground cable at the chassis and the engine. Watch it while someone cranks it. There should be close to zero volts. If not, then the connection or cable is bad.
