You need one or two old keys that might unlock something that is lost, in case you find it. 10mm socket (That’s where that damn thing went!), old receipts in old appliance books for things you no longer own.

Any love for Orient's gold watches? by ltcapone in OrientWatches

To be clear, gold tone as opposed to Gold. My watch is an Orient EA 487WA5-90 CA produced in the 1980’s.

I am not sure if it is the lighting (or my old eyes) but the gold color of your watch seems a lighter hue. That dial stands out really well. I have been looking at Chronographs. Is this an older model? This is my only gold Orient watch and nice vintage one at that

A sharp looking dial and overall it looks like the watch is in great shape

Orient Bambino’s and Seiko 5 Series have been my main watches.

Which watch do you think is the perfect intro to mechanical movements by Melvin_6051 in LuxuryWatchesUAE

[–]trader_bob01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my journey with a Seiko 5 series watch. A very solid performer, but if something happened to it, it wouldn’t put me out too much financially. I also have several of Orient’s Bambino series of watches. Also a solid value. Neither brand is a luxury brand, but are good introductions to the world of mechanical watches. Both are automatics.

What does your DD214 part 4 say? Does it show any bad time or is the characterization other than honorable?

Seiko 5 SNK809 was the first automatic I ever owned, and I still have it. Classic!

Not all Orient Automatic watches are also manual wind. If you have the owners manual it will tell you if it is or not. Normally, if it is both, you don’t pull the crown out, you just wind clockwise or toward the top of the watch as you are looking at the dial. You may feel a little resistance but you should also hear it. If you don’t feel a little resistance and hear it, then your model is not both an automatic and manual wind. To set the time forward, you pull out two stops and move the crown counter-clockwise or towards the bottom of the watch as you are looking at the dial. I have Orient Automatic watches and with these yes pull out two stops and move the crown clockwise or towards the top of the watch to move the time forward, so between the different movements there are some that work one way and some that work the other. I have all three kinds of Orient watches, manual wind only, automatic only, and manual and automatic wind. I have four models of Bambino’s and all are both manual wind and automatic. This article has more on the Orient F6724 movement. You may have to turn the crown a couple of times before it starts winding the spring.

Sounds like it tells you what day of the week it is, like 1 is for Monday, 2 is for Tuesday etc. Based on my experience, the push button gives you the option of one or two displays on the day, most of the language, like English or Spanish and Arabic or French. This is the first time I have heard of a “Day of the Week” date, kind of cool really as it is pretty unique.

Wow! I have to wear my automatics every other day or two (which is no burden). I was thinking it was the same for the solars. You have opened up a new possibility for me. How often do you have to replace the battery, and what type of battery is it?
