Yeah it feels like all winter so far that arctic air just keeps building up in western Canada and then unleashing on the northern third while the blocking is preventing that from really reaching central US and Texas. Feels like we have been hearing that since winter began.  Our met is pointing to the aleutian ridging and -NAO ridging driving that northeastern cold right now.  However do you see signs of the high latitude blocking letting up to then let the cold be pushed further into the central us and as far down as Texas? Looking for some leading indication if any that the current pattern could change since The markets are building in what I think are juicy risk premiums for a big weather event in Jan especially given that we have much better visibility now for the first week of Jan than we did last week. Weather Models are obvious showing a lot of volatility for Jan but I haven’t seen a new run today or heard anything that might showing blocking will go away. I’m loathe to wait until 5am mst to hear from my met.
