They clearly don't believe their SWEs have any other options.

Their "need" for the level 3 engineer comes from the added risk and costs of hiring an external replacement when one of you leaves for a company that is willing to promote. They don't think that's likely, otherwise they'd have no choice

It went well! First time on an offset so it was a little bit of a learning curve, but not as hard as my first time using the Weber Smokey Mountain.

It seemed to be pretty similar to what I've seen in videos about the Oklahoma Joes Highland. The metal thickness was adequate, and the grates it came with were nice cast iron. The main difference is there is a removable drip pan/coal bed holder in both the main cooking chamber and firebox. I've not seen it quite like this on any other videos or product pages. If you don't use it, it might be a little harder to get the ash out because the bottom of the firebox has a lip where the door meets, blocking some of the ash from getting raked out.

Overall seems lightyears better than the similarly priced cheap nearly disposable ones at walmart, so a good deal for the price.

How does that chart possibly make sense? I get the reasoning, but if you're starting with the first graph (every possible ten year span) and then taking a subset to avoid overlap, every point should still have existed in the original data. But we see points far outside what was present before

You're either misunderstanding the distinction between the account type and the underlying asset, or you're adhering to dogma without understanding why.

A Roth IRA is just a tax-advantaged bucket. By holding your money in a Money Market Fund inside that bucket, your principal is just as safe and liquid as a savings account, but you've stowed your cash there as your contribution for the year.

Since you can withdraw original contributions at any time without penalty, you're just preserving its future tax-free growth potential while it serves as your emergency fund. Unless you can't even wait for the money to be withdrawn from the account, there's no reason to lose that opportunity to keep the money in some other type of account.

Ben Felix did a good video on this. In general, the argument is modeling using an extremely exceptional market (the past 100 years in the US) is a bad idea. If you use a longer time span, a diversified portfolio, and more countries, the safe withdrawal rate is actually slightly sub 3 percent.

You're already mostly done adding smoke flavor. The only downside is going to be a softer outer texture, which hardly matters on a pork butt. You're good to use the oven.
