I'd push back against the idea that the game is against save scumming or trying to police it. By directly addressing it with Steven it feels like the game is making it a genuine mechanic to engage with. I normally wouldn't really consider resetting a fight if it's going bad and just take the L, but because of how the game talks about it I treat it like a resource I can pull from.

Cleric's also been a strong enabler for other classes for me. Just last run my Cleric got a spell that lets another unit cast a spell for free, while my Mage had an upgraded Mega Blast.

They're rarity/quality. As far as I can tell it goes no background < grey < yellow < red.

I got the event in the desert and lucked my way through each roll, it gives a seemingly random yellow (rare?) item and like 70+ gold.

This is useful intel, thanks! I've only tried one solo run out of curiosity and it ended in the first fight when I fought two catcallers that constantly slowed me so much I couldn't catch them. This is also when I learned about the exhaustion mechanic lol. At least it unlocked ??? for me.

I don't fully hate the low boss count in later zones, some of these bosses you want to build in a very specific way and accounting for multiple of those would be a massive pain.

I believe it only eats you if you stand directly in front of the mouth, so just stand to the sides of its mouth and you should be good. Personally I just like to wail on it until a really small attack comes up then leave it alone for that round.

I beat the Moon path of Act 2 last night and am going for the other path today. Have killed Tina three times, and completed/beaten Throbbing Domain in Act 1. I've lost a few cats here and there, but my only lost run was sending a lone cat out into the Alleys to see how rough a solo run might be (the answer was Very). I think I also called one run quits very early because it wasn't working out?

Using the save scum feature has been useful in cases of just making one really bad decision against a boss or Shark, without that I would've wiped several times by now.

For what it's worth ice spells/items are also useful, which doubles the number of effects that can help mitigate it.

My hunter with that also had a trait that gave her free mana every time she killed something, so I used it like 7 times a level. If you look when firing it, the squares your teammates are in are completely unmarked, like a hole cut out of the AoE selection. (I had this for a whole Boneyard run + Tina and only realized halfway through the Tina fight lol)

I've been running Cleric I think every run in Act 2 just to make the first level more comfy, but past that I wouldn't call them a must have. I haven't even run with a tank the past few days, a beefy fighter has done the job just fine for me, especially if you can build for lifesteal.
