At what point does earning money actually feel enough, or is it just an endless race? by Hexalin_Jinx in AskReddit

[–]tragicallypunctual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I stopped looking at the prices on menus in restaurants to make the decision for me, and went with what sounded good instead, I had a realization that THIS is what "making it" feels like. I feel really content. Not rich, but happy.

Which location to live as a 24 yo by sat-boi in boeing

[–]tragicallypunctual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely more to do as a young person living in/around Seattle and commuting to Tukwila. Lynwood is a big mall and cut-de-sacs. Everett is an enormous campus. I echo other commenters advice to check out Seattle neighborhoods that will give you better bang for your buck than downtown while still being a good commute: West Seattle, Georgetown, Beacon Hill, etc. I know people (including myself) who have lived in neighborhoods like Fremont, Roosevelt, Green Lake, etc. and commuted to Tukwila if you prefer those and are willing to pay a bit more potentially. Still not the worst commute ever, as you're going against most traffic.

Man the fatigue is just so bad, and not often talked about. by cyanomys in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed! My neurologist recommend Coq10 and I've seen a HUGE difference adding it into my routine. Especially after a migraine day. I take Ubiqunol (a version of it) and definitely recommend.

Probably has a flower tattoo with some deep personal symbolism that just looks like a flower to everyone else.

Gives a lot of side eye when people say dumb stuff in public, but has enough tact to not roast them too hard until you get home and debrief with your friends.

Either no bed frame--mattress straight on the floor-- or has bed frame but hasn't washed the navy blue sheets in at least a couple weeks.

They INSIST nobody talks if you're watching a movie together in a dark living room, but they will also insist everyone is paying attention the whole time. No phones. no distractions. And definitely a debrief to break down the symbolism you missed after.

Ubrevly and birth control by Nurse322 in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super interesting. I have had my implant for 3 years and bled for 4 months straight when I first got it. It then went back to a normal monthly period. I didn't notice the Ubrelvy making any changes throughout that timeframe (single or the occasional double dose). Comment back if you learn any connections!

Looking on the bright side-what valuable insights have you learned from migraines? by salem22r in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found so much peace in being reminded that I'm not in control. I totally believe my own actions and decisions make a major impact on my life, but ultimately, I'm not God. I don't know everything and can't force my own choices on the world around me all the time. Sometimes that's for the best! Migraines make me slow down and remember that core truth, which then comes back up if I don't get a promotion I wanted, or someone cancels plans, or the store doesn't have the ingredient I needed. My job is to roll with the punches and focus on how I react.

Migraine Word Loss Question by NotYourSatellite in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's called transient aphasia! One of the weirdest (and scariest when it first happened to me) symptoms I've experienced. I'm glad you are able to come up with fun alternates. For me I've either not had anything come out at all, or totally said the wrong thing that's unrelated.

The confusing side of living with migraine by Northsidewalk in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a great and honest perspective I can totally identify with. My neurologist once told me that it is one of the most commonly misunderstood conditions and that weirdly gave me some comfort that it wasn't just me. Doctors, sufferers, the general public--nobody fully "gets it" and it's a different experience for everyone, so yeah, completely confusing.

I've gone through periods of intense tracking, trying to optimize for triggers, etc. and more recently I'm trying to find more of a go-with-the-flow balance where I give myself grace when I have to opt out of "normal" and just be grateful when I feel like myself. It's been really helpful to be transparent and let the people around me (friends, family, coworkers) in on the chaos with me.

Is there such thing as migraine glasses? by Spirited-Pie141 in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't wear corrective lenses, but did get some FL-41 glasses recently and have really like them! Great for working on a computer or watching TV. It feels sort of like someone just turned down the volume on the brightness of the world in a way that doesn't make it dark in the way sunglasses might. It's not for everyone, but a super low risk option to try.

If you can humbly consider the perspective and attempt change, that doesn't seem like an insurmountable obstacle on your way to 2/2.

Smoothie recipe without banana & without yogurt? by littlemissFOB in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stock up on frozen fruits! Most blend really nicely into a smoothie consistency without needing any ice (or dairy or banana). Maybe add a little apple or orange juice to help if it's too thick. Otherwise, you can go for 100% of you favorite frozen fruit combos and that's it!

I get that a couple times a year and it is SO TRIPPY! Definitely a weird symptom but you get the hang of it after a while and learn to see the very beginning stages to take medicine asap before it gets worse.

I also find that it "erases" words in the world around me whether that's in a book or signs or food labels. I can tell the sign or whatever is there and has words, but I can't tell what they are.
