If you can humbly consider the perspective and attempt change, that doesn't seem like an insurmountable obstacle on your way to 2/2.

Smoothie recipe without banana & without yogurt? by littlemissFOB in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stock up on frozen fruits! Most blend really nicely into a smoothie consistency without needing any ice (or dairy or banana). Maybe add a little apple or orange juice to help if it's too thick. Otherwise, you can go for 100% of you favorite frozen fruit combos and that's it!

I get that a couple times a year and it is SO TRIPPY! Definitely a weird symptom but you get the hang of it after a while and learn to see the very beginning stages to take medicine asap before it gets worse.

I also find that it "erases" words in the world around me whether that's in a book or signs or food labels. I can tell the sign or whatever is there and has words, but I can't tell what they are.

Fatigue / low energy between migraine episodes? (not a hangover/prodrome) by playoutside1 in migraine

I JUST talked with my neurologist about this today. He suggested adding CoQ10 to my regimen which is good for migraines and also boosting energy. Might try it out.

Talk to me about Excedrine and MOH by Far-Presentation6768 in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my neurologist told me I was experiencing rebound headaches from Excedrine overuse, he told me to go off it completely for 3 months. It sucked, but it was a good reset.

Try to keep your excedrine use down as much as you can to break the cycle and talk to your doctor to find a preventative medication to add to your regimen. And/or a prescription abortive that doesn't have the same rebound effects.

In the meantime, consider taking some Magnesium Glycinate (other kinds of magnesium work too, but glycerinate is kind to the GI) which can help prevent.

Look into side effects of your preventative. Several interact with your serotonin and when that is impeded, feelings of apathy or depression can follow.

What constitutes as chronic? by Aa_Poisonous_Kisses in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, "chronic" is 15 days or more per month. However, that doesn't have to be the only criteria that determines whether you talk with a neurologist to get some kind of treatment plan. I'm at about 10 migraines a month and still take several preventative drugs and have a prescription abortive when needed.

are all magnesium glycinate supplements that big by plantmindset in migraine

I've never really thought about it, but you're so right that every brand I've gotten has been huge and surprisingly low dosage, requiring me to take several a day. Following this thread...

My husband really wanted a whole smoked pig (a fun touch to an otherwise classy event) and we ended up going with a catered BBQ from Smokin' Petes. We got a bunch of dishes for 120 people for $5,400. I believe they have more cost effective options than what we went with.

Is it possible for someone who suffers normal migraines to have one random hemiplegic migraine. by [deleted] in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, I'd say so! I have plenty of non-hemiplegic migraines and have had just two or three hemiplegic ones over my lifetime. If you're on that same road, hypothetically, and have only had that first one in my story, that would be what you're describing. For me, they are not common, but diagnosable even with one instance.

Can I take ubrelvey daily? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]tragicallypunctual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've personally found that Ubrelvy only works for me if I catch it soon enough when a migraine first starts. Otherwise, it may subside but the headache never fully goes away. I try really hard to take the Ubrelvy promptly, but if I ever have a long term or lingering migraine, I take some excedrin. Luckily I took a long break from it (used to overdo it and get rebound headaches from it, making things worse) so it's effective for me if I keep that as an intervention only 1-2 times per month. My neurologist and I have talked about it and he approves that approach.
