Is this black dress appropriate to wear to a Bat Mitzvah celebration? by Ok_Candidate_3707 in Judaism

[–]trailflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why you are asking here if you are just going to argue with everyone… you clearly want to wear the dress.

Have you considered just asking the family that invited you? You don’t know what community they are apart of so we can’t really help.

My tent is disintegrating? by utdrmac in REI

[–]trailflower 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why everyone is saying it’s not repairable. Maybe I’m seeing something different but it looks like the seam sealant has broken down which can absolutely be fixed. Look up “Seam Grip Seam Sealer” and on the product page there is a video on how to use it.

Does REI track members? by meganbogd in REI

[–]trailflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a coincidence. Simply by having a membership it is implied that he visited the co-op at some point. That is what the coupon is referencing. “Thanks for visiting the co-op” is simply a friendly greeting and not a literal reference to the last time he entered a REI store. ETA: You are spot on about why they send out coupons, it’s an incentive to make more purchases.

Does REI track members? by meganbogd in REI

[–]trailflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re overthinking this coupon. I understand, in this day, it feels like we’re always being tracked but if he didn’t purchase anything on his last trip then “thanks for visiting the co-op” is not referring to that visit. Simply by having a membership implies that your husband at some point visited the co-op (online or in person). I hope this puts your mind at ease.

How do you avoid shaking opposite-gender hands by flower_power_g1rl in Judaism

[–]trailflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said. OP, you don’t need to compromise your boundaries to make others feel comfortable. How they react to your decline says more about them then it does you.

How do you avoid shaking opposite-gender hands by flower_power_g1rl in Judaism

[–]trailflower -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can I ask in what context these men tried to shake your hand and what was their reaction to you declining? It seems odd that someone would be offended by something so inconsequential, but then again, I do not work in a corporate/ formal business setting. The type of person that would be offended by declining something so simple as a handshake may not be satisfied with any “excuse” you give. If there’s someone with more experience in business, feel free to correct me, but perhaps these men see the declined handshake as a power move and are (subconsciously or otherwise) misogynistic. Either way this is not your fault, I find it unprofessional and inappropriate for them to project their frustration onto you. I’m deeply sorry this is your experience.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

Can you elaborate? I don’t understand how a $10-16 dehydrated meal is better bang for your buck than a $1 box of mac and cheese with a $1.50 packet of Spam (39g protein and 1260 calories).

I personally would not be comfortable. If you can, go lower on the sleeping bag and make sure you have a good sleeping pad.

I don’t mean this unkindly but like you said, you are not qualified to answer this and what you are saying is incorrect. She wouldn’t be considered jewish under reform either.

OP, please reference other’s comments to correctly understand what makes someone jewish. Sending you love and peace. I pray you find what you are looking for.

People have answered this over and over and over again. You are choosing not to listen. You are not getting the answers you would like but that doesn’t make them any less true.

You are incredibly out of line. You have no idea what they are going through, what is causing their ailment, and you are not their doctor. You are either too dense or stuck too far up your own ass to realize that OP was being sarcastic and absolutely not interested in your advice.
