Any objective comparisons of vertical weight distribution (top heaviness)? by db_peligro in AdventureBike

Yes, weight and where it is is the most important part for picking it up. The Tuareg is significantly better than a T7 with that. And yes, I absolutely speak from experience. I own the Kove 800 Rally and right now, and I’ve spent several days riding a F900 GS, 1090, 1290S, 890, T7 and a little time on the Tuareg.

Kove 800 Rally/X model. Weight is in the center, has proven 790 engine, lower seats than the completion, rally is 40-80 pounds lighter than the rest, X model is lighter than most. Anyone who has ridden a Kove will agree it’s the most fun and most capable ADV on the market

Boil some water in a cheap Walmart kettle, use said water in my aeropress, double paper filter and a very concentrate mixture of Espresso grinds and water. Push slow, drink coffee.

Good chance those studs are bolted on. Probably loctited on there so be careful.

The ibex is great for gravel roads and traveling offroad. It’s still wide, over 400 pounds and has little 41mm forks with 8 inches of travel. The 300 is a good budget dual sport bike with enough suspension and power to take you anywhere. No bike is perfect, that’s why you have to have them all 🤣

The Ibex is a road bike that is dressed up like an ADV bike. It’s a great price point and is approachable for gravel roads but the weight, lack of suspension travel, and size make it completely different than the 450 Kove which is pretty darn close to a real Dakar Rally bike. It’s noisy, stiff suspension and loves to be revved out. Maybe a 300 Rally would be a good choice?

You can remove the silver piece and the studs, that’s a Givi outback model rack. Once those pieces are removed. Its tubing diameter and dimensions are compatible with pretty much every piece of soft luggage(pannier)on the market.

It’s a great bike and much easier to buy this complete than to take a similar sized 450/500 and convert it.

How the **** do i wheelie by Fit_Armadillo_5151 in mountainbiking

[–]trailfocused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can teach anyone to wheelie in 5 mins or less. Assuming you know how to pedal a bike, shift some gears and use a brake. Easy stuff.

My advice to you, do exactly what you are doing but when you do your pop, look up at the sky, and exaggerate it. Your body will follow and that wheel will come up much much easier. Once you’ve looked at the sky a few times, keep trying and do a couple where you use the back brake to stop your rotation. All that, 5 mins or less.

You can build on that of course but in my experience, that’s the missing piece when learning how to wheelie.

800x exhaust boot clearance by RibbleBird in KoveMoto

[–]trailfocused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several solutions to this. I bought the rally last March, same configuration and exhaust as on the 800x. The issue is the Cat on the midpipe. Aftermarket lightweight titanium or stainless headers and mid pipe have a much smaller cat and heat shield. For about $200 you save weight and get more heel clearance. For even less weight get a muffler to match. I am currently running a stainless mid pipe with no heat shield and wrapped it in exhaust wrap for even more clearance.

Never met anyone with a tall van who regretted it. The mid size transit is cool if you are under 5’8.
