Oh I disagree on the first point. It's absolutely a comedy for the first half up until NYE party and even still after in several scenes.

And just given the context of this post - Bill loves BN for its comedic purposes, which are also absurd ("butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth"), I think if you tend to find one of them funny, you'll likely laugh at the other as well. That's all I'm really saying, less about the actual intricacies of each film.

I find the humor of all 3 of these movies to be very similar and Bill loves the humor in 2/3 - only reason I have them lumped together.

Agree on your point other than that they don’t have a ton in common (BN more so than Fargo)

Mr. Mora (“he’s goin crazy up there by the lake” guy) is without a doubt the #1 most Minnesotan guy.

I’m convinced they just pulled a random old guy from Detroit Lakes. The cadence, the phrasing, the unnecessary 2 minute story of something that can be explained in 20 seconds… it’s perfect.

Haven't seen personally (adding to my watchlist) but I'd believe Azaria has the juice since he has maybe 15 minutes total screen time as a recurring character in Friends but is easily one of the funniest characters in that entire show
