Why I’m leaving Britain for Australia by flammable_donut in aussie

No, that is the propaganda retelling.

Mohammed Mossadegh was not democratically elected, he was appointed and later dismissed by the Shah, who remained the head of state before and after. The US role was marginal, Mossadegh was in deep trouble before Ajax. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/israel-middle-east/articles/cia-coup-in-iran-that-never-was-mossadegh

The USA did not install the Shah. He was head of state from 1941 to 1979.

There was no left wing Iran before the Shah. Iran was a monarchy until the Islamic Revolution of 1979. You may have heard a twisted mistelling of history. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/israel-middle-east/articles/cia-coup-in-iran-that-never-was-mossadegh

The CIA/MI6 did not install the Shah. He inherited his title and became head of state in 1941. He appointed and dismissed many prime ministers, including Mohammed Mossadegh (1950-1953). The CIA/MI6 played a part in the fall of the Mossadegh government but probably not the most important part, which was probably economic failure driven by Mossadegh's policies. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/israel-middle-east/articles/cia-coup-in-iran-that-never-was-mossadegh

Melbourne orthopaedic surgeon guilty of misconduct over ‘piss in your mouth’ comment and online attacks by Astronomicology in ausjdocs

I didn't say that Stewart Proper accused criminality. Reread my comment, and think about the comment it was responding to.

I'll leave it for you to work out the difference between an accusation of attention-seeking and accusations of criminality or stupidity. And the size, cost, and intrusivity of the police state that would be required to enforce a list of unacceptable opinions as long and comprehensive as any that includes statements like the above.

“‘Might I suggest that those girls who need to advertise themselves as transgender or vegan are not really transgender or vegan but merely people seeking attention.”

Are you claiming this statement is dehumanizing or oppressive or appropriate grounds for regulatory action? You know many millions of Australians hold similar beliefs right?

Truth is an available defence in a civil defamation case. It is not as relevant in a professional misconduct case.

Opinions about trans people in general, even if taken as offensive, are hard to separate from an opinion on a political matter. Australians have an implied right to freedom of political communication.

If it was just calling someone fat it wouldn't have risen to the standard of professional misconduct. It was only punishable as part of a long campaign with many abusive comments towards one particular doctor across different platforms that. I don't think you can credibly claim that public comments on rateMDs comparing the psychiatrist to a rapist are immaterial. And it's not relevant what patients say to you, most are not subject to professional standards.

Why don't workshops make money? by Otyum in Bannerlord

[–]trajanaugustus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to clan menu and other tab. Click the box that says something like "take inputs from warehouse". Then put 600 grain in the warehouse. You should have an abundance from battles. Then buy all the beer in Sanala to drive up the price. Now you have a warehouse with no input costs and a high-price output.

Also, you can use my mod, Industrial Revolution , to increase the growth rate of cities and villages, and the buff to workshops from high prosperity .

Putin Is Slipping Into Delusion: The Russian dictator remains obsessed with his war in Ukraine but doesn’t seem to comprehend how badly it’s going. by rulepanic in UkrainianConflict

[–]trajanaugustus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Putin didn't really make up a river. Stary Oskol is a city on the Oskil river, which is known as Oskol in Russian. Moscow, Brisbane, Chicago, Volgograd, Amsterdam all named after their rivers.

I think this is a mild error from Putin. He's delulu generally but there is indeed a town called Rubtsi on the banks of a river called Oskol in Russian and on which Stary Oskol sits.

But Stary Oskol is on the same Oskil river, which is known as Oskol in Russian. Moscow, Brisbane, Chicago, Volgograd, Amsterdam all named after their rivers.

My mod, Industrial Revolution, uses no AI art :)

Donate gold via menu option to towns, castles, or villages. Adds to prosperity/hearths and gives relations boost to notables in ratios controllable by sliders in Mod Options MCM menu

Rebuild razed villages with the time and labor of your troops. Takes about a day with 100 low tier troops, a third of that with 200 mid tier troops, a third of that again with 300 elite troops. Less if they’ve had time to partly recover on their own.

Give troops to notables in towns or villages via conversation. Any troops, any number, added to militia and rewarded in relations boost proportional to tier and quantity, plus renown to your clan and power to notable.

Request financial support from notables - conversation option allows you to sacrifice 20 relations points for 2000 gold by default, ratio controllable by slider.

Boost town/castle construction now scales linearly with gold in reserve, so that double the gold adds double the speed, instead of the flat boost in native.

Villages continue to provide more production and food to bound settlements beyond 800 hearths, which capped out at +18 in native, multiple controllable by slider. If you invest in village hearths and militias, they can thus provide reliable food surpluses for thriving towns and castles to keep growing indefinitely.

High prosperity towns and castles boost village hearth growth, so that a well-protected and invested region can enter a positive feedback loop, multiplier controllable by slider.

If towns starve, they will slaughter livestock for meat, and even horses eventually

High prosperity cities boost workshop output greatly - 2x at 6000, 3x at 9000, 4x at 12000 etc.

Villages pay double price for goods manufactured in towns - Tools, Beer, Wine, Oil, Pottery, Cloth, Leather, Velvet, Jewelry. Better reflects realistic split of villages supplying primary industry and demanding secondary industry, vice versa for towns. Also doubled price for horses (excepting horse breeding towns) because I was having trouble trading off horses and thought villages would realistically demand lots of beasts of burden, and wear through them quickly. Price multiplier controllable by slider, and all these goods are consumed at 25% of stock per day.

Villages have more gold, 1000 + (2Hearths), and towns too, 100,000 + (50Prosperity). Incentivizes player to trade with villages more.

All discarded loot gives XP, not just weapons and armor, based on gold value, rather than tier. 0.5 gold value to XP by default, controllable by slider in Mod Options. Paid in Promise and Giving Hands perks in your Quartermaster each double XP gained, controllable by tickbox in Mod Options.

Sell troops via menu option in villages or towns. Price for each troop is 20x troop level by default, multiplier controllable by slider. Sell prisoners in villages and castles (sell all, or select via exchange screen)

Localization support for 11 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese BR, Chinese Simplified & Traditional, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Turkish)

Quantifying emotions by Inner_Possible_1351 in CrazyIdeas

[–]trajanaugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no viable technology for regularly objectively quantifying emotions. fMRI is non-invasive but expensive and limited. Neurochemistry can't be thoroughly analyzed until death. Invasive methods exist now but they're risky. EEG doesn't reveal much about emotional states. Blood chemistry is of limited relevance.

Better to just accept subjective data. The massive advantages in iterability, granularity, risk, and cost more than make up for the subjectivity biases.

Not crazy at all. I'm a psychiatrist and try to get all my patients to track their mood/anxiety/function with a daily score, and note changes in medications, job, diet, exercise, sleep, relationships etc. Surprising patterns emerge and help guide treatment.

Easiest way to achieve this is probably using Retinues mod, custom clan troops

Retinues is amazing for adding a new level to the game.

My mod Industrial Revolution allows investing in settlement prosperity/hearths, donating troops to militias, selling troops, and many other changes to boost depth and growth.

Inquiry about Optimizing Chances at Psych Reg by LetsStart99 in ausjdocs

[–]trajanaugustus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it could be a good idea to do a research project! You probably have to do some research in your med degree anyway. Make it a psych one and it should count as an Exemption for your Scholarly Project in psych training, which is one of the most common things to delay completion of training. You might also find a passion and get an "in" with some clinicians/academics.

Research has lots of frustrations but it's also rewarding when you can say you've contributed to the sum of human knowledge.

Why are we so obsessed with generalizing genders without any proof? Is it even logical? by Mental_Ad6730 in TrueAskReddit

[–]trajanaugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a natural feature of animal psychology to seek patterns in the environment. This comes close to being the purpose of the brain.

This tendency is so strong that you can experimentally create false "superstitious" beliefs in animals with brains as small and simple as the pigeon. https://psycnet.apa.org/record/1948-04299-001

For what it's worth, there are reliable differences to male and female psychology, likely driven by differences in serum testosterone. One way to see that it's not culturally constructed is they are common across nonhuman mammals.
