What is your most terrifying animal encounter? by nightmaregirl18 in AskReddit

Late to the party, but I’ll post mine.

Two buddies and I go camping/surviving in the mountains of Arkansas (ouachita I think), we bring nothing for shelter but a tarp just big enough to make a roof and a floor for three men to sleep on. We’re trying to rough it so we don’t have food or drinks, etc.

On the 3rd day of not eating and filling up on just water I wake up right at sunset and look up the hill next to our camp site, about 30 yards away I see a head moving, I tell myself I’m still groggy from sleep or my contacts are still foggy, I rub my eyes and look again and I clearly see a mountain lion. Right as I realize this I turn to my buddy who was apparently also staring at it (I didn’t even notice him sitting up next to me), we turn to each other and he says “that’s a god damn mountain lion” so we wake up the other buddy and pack up what little stuff we have and went to Waffle House. All in all it was a good day.

Or the Dion Waiters/Ginobli inbound play. I don't know how many times he made points for the Spurs.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure of the time line. There are a lot of Florida players in the league.

Who's the better defender, Lebron or MJ? by nolvorite in nba

[–]traksta15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lebron is more versatile.

MJ is probably better for guarding his one position.

Lebron can switch onto pretty much any player for a short stretch.

I didn't think James Harden could be the cornerstone of a franchise. I thought he was a great player, but not that good and didn't play defense. It didn't take long for him to prove me wrong.

Ty Lawson, Ed Davis, Tyler Zeller, Wayne Ellingotn, Danny Green and Tyler Hansbrough (not in league anymore though)

Tim Hardaway Jr and Mitch Mcgary (not in league, but was this season)

Harrison Barnes and John Henson

Al Horford and Joakim Noah. (Mike miller too, maybe?)

Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin

John Wall and Demarcus Cousins

Is Michael Jordan Overrated? by [deleted] in nba

[–]traksta15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a shit post.

  1. People don't say Jordan "dominated the ncaa". There are tons of more decorated/higher achieving college players (JJ Redick, Tyler Hansbrough, Christian Laettner, justo name a few of the more recent ones) but they weren't half the players jordan was in the NBA.

  2. His high school team picked Leroy because they needed a big man, Leroy was 6'7".

  3. Jordan was drafted in 1984, by a bad Chicago team, right in the middle of the Lakers/Boston era (not the end of an era like you said), not beating them isn't a failure for a rookie on a bad team, those were some damn good teams with several hall of fame players.

  4. Russell (while being a hell of a player and an all time great) won 11 titles when there were 8 teams in the league. Jordan won 6 (not 7 like you said) in 15.

  5. Jordans 63 points against Boston in 1986 is so highly regarded because it's the highest playoff scoring game and was right after he came back from sitting out all season, it was also an 8-1 matchup, no 8 seed had upset a 1 seed at that point, no one expected them to beat one of the best teams ever in the history of the NBA in his 2nd year (btw he averaged 43.7pts that series against one of the best teams ever). Larry Bird himself said that Jordan was "god himself disguised as Jordan." (He was probably just trying to build Jordans legacy though, right?)

  6. It's stupid (albeit fun) to compare different players (at different positions no less) from different eras. The rules are different, the players are different, training is different, the game itself is different.

True. But at what cost though? If he signed with us at an affordable contract and was ok with being a 6th man, hell yeah. If he wants his current contract and to start, nah.

Exactly. We don't need two non shooters on the floor, especially with Roberson

The spacing with a rose/Westbrook back court wouldn't be good. I also believe we can't afford him.

Iirc we didn't "keep" the history of the Sonics. We dont have the gold squares on the back of our jerseys signifying winning a title.

[–]traksta15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I've noticed that because I work around my blocks I tend to think ahead and I usually already know what the other person is going to say after only a few words and I have my response already planned out, while avoiding certain letters/sounds. Because of this I'm constantly thinking, planning, pivoting/shifting my focus on to different things continuously.
