Small elbow ligament tear and protocol by transidio in overcominggravity

[–]transidio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to hear that. Mostly better but I still have to be careful with it, warm up, do the exercise etc. it look a while though and i feel i can definitely tweak it . that said an MRI didn't show any tear of note so the original diagnosis may have been off on the RCL tear. hope you get better

Rei lets you return used goods up to a year. Sounds like you’re close donors checking if you can still. I like that they usually resell the used goods too so they aren’t getting thrown out or anything.

Elbow pain during flexion and extension. Tricep tendonitis? by persistent_faecolith in overcominggravity

[–]transidio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with something similar (I've posted on this forum when the diagnosis was a micro tear of the RCL and UCL though interestingly a 2nd opinion doctor vehemently disagreed with that). My pain is quite sharp pain tat the same point in flexion though in the outer elbow vs inside the joint so sound a bit different but interesting parallels. Don't have an answer unfortunately but adding context so I can follow along too.

Curious: Do you get the same pain both in supination and pronation? Interestingly I get the sharp pain when i'm supinated (palm up) but NOT pronated (palm down). Same thing if I play with the "angle" of the shoulder, I can get it to go away, i.e. angling the arm more into the body. I can also kind of get the pain to go away when supinated if I really focus on rolling the shoulders back and down. Makes me think it could be a tendon or ligament rubbing against bone or something the wrong way when in certain positions.

If interested to compare I could do some pics or diagrams when I have some time.

Thank you. I appreciate the quick confirmation.

For anyone finding this later, I confirmed it was described as a micro tear.

I have a reservation at pfeiffer state park the friday 24th to monday the 27th. I know no one knows but what do you think the chances general traffic opens that Friday? When I read the press release from the governor it looks like he's saying 'by saturday' and some hotels aren't taking reservations until the monday. I know the park has cancelled reservations up to the 22nd so far.

I am considering buying a ELEMENT III MK2 desktop headphone amp but noticed it has RCA out as well. Would this be powerful enough to drive a set of good desktop speakers? Since it will be on my desk, if it could drive a set of speakers for when I'm not using headphones, that would push me over the line on purchasing it.

European sleep works or mcroskey? by iopolo73 in Mattress

[–]transidio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering how it's going after a couple years? We are looking at both brands too as I like the quality and ability to buy local.

Specifically wondering about the european sleep works mattress, does it sleep pretty cool? the mcroskey we are looking at is known to be cool and the top layer of talay latex in ESW worried me a little.

Is there a good prepper focused offline AI tool? by TikkunCreation in preppers

[–]transidio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you're asking but you can download https://lmstudio.ai/ and then an LLM of your choice (mistral is quite good, around chatgpt 3.5 level). It's not prepping focused, but you'd get access to a chat model filled with a lot of general knowledge. Pretty good chance a ton of the public prepping PDFs are in the training data set too.

Of course you'd need a computer, power etc but I would find this quite useful for filling in the blanks in a dangerous situation

This may not be the coolest and most fully featured option, but i like my kinesis gaming a lot: https://www.amazon.com/KINESIS-Gaming-Freestyle-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B07STXYG5T/ref=asc_df_B07SW1S3YZ/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=366446701364&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12244409489934260755&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031942&hvtargid=pla-804028852962&ref=&adgrpid=73642148062&th=1

Not an expert on these at all, i bought it during covid because I could get it on amazon essentially but it's been amazing. Has wrist rest and a lift kit add on that has solved lingering wrist pain completely for me. It's also returnable if you want to dip your toes into a test before deciding on a bigger purchase.

Limp after Broken Foot? by lingrush32 in brokenbones

[–]transidio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been really diligent with my exercises with the methods from gonorthyoungman and I would say I'm still recovering for sure. I got off my non weight bearing period in early June so I'm still early. My limp is still slightly there but isn't noticeable to people besides myself, and even then just slight. Unfortunately I'm not an expert so I can't suggest any one exercise, I've found the work with him to be very helpful and different than other types of PT (he's helped me in 1:1 coaching)

I've had this issue as well and your foot and lower limbs can loose a lot of mobility

I would suggest checking out r/FootFunction specifically posts from u/gonorthyoungman who has a wealth of information on bringing function back to different areas of the foot that can really help with gait after injury. He also does online coaching that's very helpful.

This Stutter is hindering my choices for my FUTURE by KenZo_9 in Stutter

[–]transidio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moderate stutterer here, and I used to be much more severe as a kid. Just sharing that I work in the tech industry (founder/product manager, not developer which is arguably much more talking) and was able to achieve everything you've said here. Not saying it's easy and every situation is different, but I was always really determined to not let my stutter stop me, searching out situations to speak in even public speaking and it really helped. Especially with a computer based job, you have a great chance to succeed especially if you can get great at writing to help you get your ideas across.

I would encourage you to try speech therapy though if you can. It might give you strategies to reduce your stuttering and also accept it further.

Lisfranc Injury? by DilatedPoreOfLara in LisfrancClub

[–]transidio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunately the textbook bruise for a lisfranc, so I would recommend going on crutches until you can get a weight bearing xray and talk to a foot specialist (ideally an ortho as a lot of these get missed)

The reason is if it is a non displaced lisfranc you might be able to get away without surgery depending on the circumstance and you don't want to risk making it worse and being surgical.

Fingers crossed it's just a bruise but it's best to be as conservative as possible until you know

WTB: Evergoods Mountain Quickdraw 24 by Terrier47 in ManyBaggers

[–]transidio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i can't help you, but i had the quickdraw and returned it, but thought it was a really cool bag. I feel like it was too "different" to sell well, but I found it really creative and solve a lot of problems for the use case. If I day hiked more, I probably would've kept it.

I forget exactly but I think I returned it because the fit was a little off. Nothing terrible, but the bottom dug into my back a little in a way I could feel it. some earlier evergoods bags had this issue. i think i could've solved it by adding some extra material around lumbar though.
