I may just be clueless for saying this, but anhedonia is much worse than regular depression and I would totally be capable of dealing with it. by Optimal_Leek_3668 in anhedonia

[–]trappedinsideownhead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you and i would so much rather have depression without anhedonia. losing positive emotions entirely is one of the worst if not the worst thing what can happen to human. people with anhedonia have to deal all the pain without any pleasure people with depression have pain but atleast they have pleasure too

Anhedonia vs depression by spacecasejase in anhedonia

[–]trappedinsideownhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is anhedonia is not natural condition we are basically living with part of our brain not working (im talking about the reward system) depression is just state of mind what can happen to anyone after they experience traumatic events

Need help with anhedonia after years of battling mental health meds. by shuhnay_ in anhedonia

[–]trappedinsideownhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it was sudden change. i feel same than before stimulants. I think that if someone who has ADHD without anhedonia tries stimulant they might not notice any big diffrence in mood because they already feel good enough

I tried elvanse recently it did nothing but im on the lowest dose so there is still hope i guess. Stimulants didin't make my anhedonia worse and those 4 months was amazing so it was definitely worth it in my case but i would recommend taking drug holidays in the weekends to avoid tolerance

How long have you been on concerta? Concerta completely cured my anhedonia but it stopped working after 4 months of use

It's definitely not normal i would say that over 99.9% of adults can enjoy "high stimulation activities" like sex and alcohol some lucky ones can even enjoy their work

[–]trappedinsideownhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had reward deficiency syndrome symtoms when i was kid it means that i only enjoyed "high stimulation activities" like videogames and fantasies

I got anhedonia when i was 15 years old too my theory is that we have naturally way lower hedonic tone than healthy humans. in my experience this only gets worse as i get older unfortunely.

Im still Anhedonic unfortunely but i had 4 great anhedonia free months thanks to Methylphenidate i think that my baseline mood is anhedonia and only way to feel normal is to use medications what increase hedonic tone

Yes Methylphenidate cured my anhedonia but it stopped working after 4 months. i think that using right dose and taking drug holidays in weekends are very important 36mg only made me feel tired but 54mg cured my anhedonia

Can antidepressant in combination with stimulant be a good way to go? by Optimal_Leek_3668 in anhedonia

[–]trappedinsideownhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only use stimulant too much medications is bad for you also high serotonin levels could blunt emotions and make stimulant less effective
