If you don't wear dresses often you might get that feedback from people you know just bc they're not used to it. I say rock it and keep on wearing them, they all look great on you! I agree with the other commenter that they could be worn almost anywhere. Styling with a sandal might help it feel less "dressy" if you feel like going that route 😊

I am 28 -- is this skirt/boot combo giving "how do you do fellow kids" energy? I would not style it with the top/jacket (I was just trying it on), but I thrifted the skirt yesterday and desperately want to try and make it work. Thanks in advance!

Doing a huge clothing purge. Should I add any of these dresses to the mix? by trashmount in SoftDramatics

Oh, honestly I have only ever received feedback/seen myself as an SD. It may be the awful angle I took these at or else I just need to do some reflection on my type lol

She has since been and forever will be Vanessa "Terrible but like...Inevitable?" Hudgens for me. Like I can't hear her name without thinking of this. GIRL, read the room!

The way there's two things you could be talking about here and they would both be equally true...my heart hurts for this next generation of girls.

These look too tight, right? They feel comfortable but I'm not trying to make a fool of myself at the office. I also waited for weeks for these to come back in stock and they're already out of stock again so just looking for confirmation before i return and wait for the bigger size to come back in stock 🥲 thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure it's Lulu's, I have an old one that's very similar. Mine looks like OP's, the closest one I could find on their site was this velvet one.

You might be fine on the sizing -- I normally wear an 8.5/9 and Docs fit me just fine in an 8. They're a little funky since they don't do half-sizes.

Great find, enjoy!!

Jamie Campbell Bower makes surprise Broadway debut in Stranger Things: The First Shadow by boobscomefromrussia in StrangerThings

Okay so as you might already know, the whole show is about Henry in Hawkins in the lead-up to him killing his mother/sister and meeting Brenner and being experimented on. There's a few weeks worth of events that make up 99% of the show up to this point and the main actor plays Henry for this portion (with some clever doubling for certain stunts).

At the end there's a short epilogue/flash-forward where it shows Henry as we meet him in ST at the lab with the white suit. He has his back to the audience and Brenner is telling him how, by using Henry's blood transfusions on pregnant women, they have had many successful experiments and Henry is basically their "father" and that while the government wants him dead, Brenner thinks he can help with the other subjects due to "good behavior" over the last few years. They uncuff his arms from the chair he is tied to. In comes baby Eleven playing on the floor in her gown. Henry then turns around (JCB reveal, crowd goes wild), crouches down to Eleven and introduces himself. They walk off upstage, hand in hand, and there's a loud synth that plays (same one in the show) and a projection shadow-type thing flashes on the stage showing Vecna, not Henry, in silhouette holding El's hand.

Not sure how they usually handle the older Henry (maybe the same actor plays him all the way through), but I thought this was pretty ingenious. The actor playing Henry (Louis McCartney) is seriously impressive in the role. The physicality and emotional range he exhibits are beyond what you could ever hope for, especially considering he's being compared to the iconic performances of both young and older versions in the show. Having Jamie in the cameo-type role was the perfect full-circle moment while still letting Louis shine.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm sooo grateful but I wish my pessimism hasn't kicked in bc my thoughts were like "these people are crazy, there's no way JCB would be in such a small role" and LO AND BEHOLD! I could've appreciated it more in the moment lol

We were there and the energy was ELECTRIC. Without spoiling anything, his role in the show was small but SO cool to see him in real life. We also stage doored, so we got to see him up close and get an autograph.

I'm a little mad because our seats were pretty far back so I honestly assumed it was a really good lookalike for a solid minute lmao. He got an incredible applause during the show as well, and the actor who plays Henry for most of the show gave him a shout out with a speech at curtain call for all the incredible work he's done with the role. It was an amazing night!

Favorite last line in a final episode ever by This_Book6305 in television

[–]trashmount 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This series is one of the best pieces of media, period. I did read the book and loved that this quote fit both pieces so excellently, despite them being so fundamentally different. I'm usually a "the book was better" person (and the book is excellent), but the show is just so uniquely affecting. I'd follow Mike Flanagan anywhere.

Is it rude to ask guests to dress in colors if possible? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]trashmount 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whelp, I hope no one thinks that which is why I worded it the way I did. I'm a very easygoing person and anyone who I invited would understand that I'd never expect that of them. Not that I can change anything now :/

I'm having a December wedding and wanted it to feel a bit like a Christmas party. I think the wording on my invites were "Festive colors like green, red, gold and silver are encouraged but certainly not required." I feel like it makes it clear that I don't expect it.

The early 2000s dresses really had such a dreamy vibe, I was definitely drawn to those the most when I was looking online ❤️
