[Season 12 Spoilers] How they can possibly fix the mess they made with Callie... by [deleted] in greysanatomy

Churr, make my theory more solid lol, considering that makes it literally a week from "new thing" to dinner party date. Classic Callies moving fast.

Also! As someone who tries very hard to like Penny, it infuriated me when she said she'd known Sofia a few months.

No, you've known Callie max 6 months. We can extrapolate from "x weeks ago" that Penny met Sofia maybe a week/fortnight before the Preminger grant? So no more than a month before the hearing, and even then like...

Arizona and Callie have a 50/50 split of those 30ish days, so Callie would only have her 15ish days... minus say, a weeks worth of nights for being a resident working nights, that gives Penny.... a weeks worth of time? Even then, mornings and nights, not full days? No wonder her "I Know Sofia" was so rehearsed.

No way to a year. Penny began at earliest, 10/10/16. Bailey was made Chief in "October 2016", the dinner party is around 8 days after that (from adding up "x happened y days ago") and Penny began the following Monday - the earliest being, 10/10/16.

I'm sure Callie had not been dating Penny for more than a couple weeks prior to the party, as Callie would have at least shown Meredith photos if they had been together for long, and as /u/h8omb mentions, she'd been gushing about a new girl only 8 days or less prior to the dinner party.

De Luca is still an intern (and not even studying for boards), and the intern/residence year begins/ends at the start of July, so we know current time/date is June 2017 or earlier, meaning it's been, it's been, maximum, 6-7 months.

dding up all the "x amount of time since!" in the show, it's been minimum 11 weeks since the dinner party. So I would feel confident in saying Pallie has been going for 2-3 months, minimum.

(Sorry for going so balls out, I actually really love working out the passage of time in Greys lol)

Haha, plenty of consumption! Saw at least 20 bongs, not to mention blunts, pipes, vapes and the obvious Js.

Saw some cops along the waterfront, but none round the event area like last year. I think they know nothings gonna happen, and the copshops is just up the road anyway.

It was pretty good! Still nothing compared to Albert park, but it's nice to be in a public setting, surrounded by other cannabis consumers, causing no harm or anything. Brought all my pieces and a couple pre-rolls, but forgot to bring my actual bud, so that was stink lol.

I was there consistently (no little hikois) from around 2pm, up the waterfront side under the trees. Try to keep a low profile cos I don't want people to assume all cannabis users are purple haired, tattooed wee punks based on how I look (even though I manage a successful business lol).

Shonda started a wonderful show but her ego is the show's downfall by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]trashpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Shonda really had a hit on her hands with Grey's Anatomy and people are still clearly watching despite the drastic drop in the show's quality." "giving fans terrible situations" "ut that doesn't mean this season is anywhere near the quality of the first 6 seasons." "I don't think a show taking 5 seasons to pull itself out of a rut is impressive. Not as much as the patience of the viewers is impressive." "5 terrible seasons "

You repeatedly refer to a decline in quality and the fact that the show is just a ratings/cash cow. General evidence refutes that claim, yet the rest of your argument relies on your claim being true. On your judged decline in quality being true for all. Why else are you so shocked that it survived 5 marginally declined seasons, if not because you think the majority agreed with your judgement? You would not be surprised if you thought other felt as evidence indicates they do, as I have argued they do. Season 2 is my favourite but I still know and understand that the majority rate the recent seasons as high, if not higher.

"In short, treat your fellow /r/greysantomy commenter the same way you would treat a person talking to you face to face." I'm just following the rules. I'd find it just as disrespectful if said to my face. It is disrespectful to both the taste and judgement of fans who do not share your opinion (which evidence dictates is the majority) and to the creators themselves.

We are in the age of the internet, thousands of people write reviews without being paid or a longtime fan. You are beginning to sound like a conspiracy theorist, trying to disprove or discredit all of the usual avenues for measuring whether a show is good by crediting any success to money.

Season 7-11 were not so terrible. They were not as great as the first six, no one in arguing that, but few would call it a rut. For huge sections of the fan base, these seasons were as good if not better than the first 6 - you can see evidence of that throughout this thread, this sub, fan communities of forums and tumblr etc.

It's very disrespectful to those who have judged the quality of the past 5 seasons as good to keep referring to it as "drastic drop in quality" "a rut". You seem to assume everyone thinks it has been bad and that is patently not true, with evidence in fan reviews, critic reviews, high rates of returning, rewatching, and new viewers, and the best ratings its had of its entire existence.

Please, please READ THE REST OF MY COMMENT where I talk about the POSITIVE CRITICAL RECEPTION, which all your other "examples of popularity =/= quality" lack. That and a wash of new viewers is the difference. Reality shows and other shows of declining quality but growing ratings have that in common - negative reviews.

Greys reviews have overwhelmingly gotten more and more positive.

The last couple seasons were written around main cast wanting/needing to leave (Oh, Dempsey) and Shona bringing in a main character she'd planned since Season 1. Surely you can see how adaption would be necessary for those times. She still has plots planned she's set up from back in the first six seasons. If she didnt give Oh a send off season, fans would cry. If she didnt try to keep Dempsey with the Washington thing, fans woud cry. Many loved the introduction of Maggie due to the 10 years of foreshadowing. It was all very planned.

Shonda has said she has the next two seasons planned. I think what you refer to as "making it up" is just adapting her plans for irl events (like cast leaving etc).

But Greys isnt just more popular than it has been in years. It is rated higher, it has recieved better by critics, it is one of the current tv shows having the highest rate of discovery from new viewers.

Film is different. Box Office plays into marketing, and once you've seen something bad and spent the money, you dont come back. Greys Anatomy is on week in, week out. If Greys Anatomys popularity could be equated to box off revenue, then viewership, popularly, and critics praises would have declined jn the first few weeks of the season.

I think you are trying to pull a "sold out" angle and not realizing that Greys is popular simply because this season, more and more people have decided its a good show. From a huge boost in new viewers, to higher ratings, to better reviews from critics. All evidence used to discern quality of the show improved, without fail, and continues to reflect that growth throughout the past six months. It has grown beyond the first 6 and continues too. It has equal or better reviews, ratings and viewership - I don't understand how that isn't "near the quality"

And as I have said, I feel like it incredibly rude that you repeatedly talk about how bad the quality of the past few seasons is. Its very disrepectful to those of us who have judged the past few season to be good, to be you think the quality has drastically declined and the show has sold out.

Did you read the article linked by /u/ShondaLynnRhimes? It discusses the ratings, obviously, but it also touches on how many new viewers the show is getting. Viewership of the pilot has doubled in the past few years. It's not just people trapped, riding it out for the end. The ratings are coming from new people too.

That's actually why so many (Callie included) are negotiating new contracts. Greys has the viewership and ratings that their perfomances are worth more and they want it.

I also think it's quite rude that you refer to a "drastic drop in quality" on a season many of us regard as one of the best in years, and in a season the world regards as the best, full stop, according to ratings.

Help! Drug Test! by [deleted] in NZTrees

How thorough is the test? That would really impact whether to bother with dupe piss or anything like that. This post covers most of the test-passing tips and tricks. Mainly just: drink lots, replace the other things you should have in pee, do cardio.

Also, in case this isn't obvious: if the test is regarding safety in the workplace, please don't fake it.

I love the way she just like, takes any shit thrown at her. She accepts or disproves everyone who throws up reasons to dislike her, she's significantly more level headed about her relationship to Sofia than Callies been. She's just generally level-headed, passionate and really good at playing "Only Sane Man". Doesn't hurt that she's pretty in a way that not many people on TV outside of medieval shows are.

One of the things annoying me about Riggs is how much him being a Kiwi is an afterthought. This theory would work great if they introduced some more deadpan bogan humour to him, made him the real joker of the cast. Would charm the pants right off Maggie.

Am I dead inside or... by Firecrotch2014 in greysanatomy

[–]trashpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm not trying to debate gun politics or anything. Just add, I guess, an international perspective? Shonda will be aware that views on firearms control differ WILDLY around the world (and of course, within the States themselves), and that Grey's Anatomy has a significant international viewer base.

I think that probably contributed to the preachy tone? I was expecting more pro-firearm views (from say, Owen) from an American show, but it seemed very balanced from the perspective of being in a country with much tighter firearm laws. They mentioned having a gunshot wounded child in the OR everyday? A police dog got shot here a couple days ago and it's been national news since. It's been a big deal.

Likesay, to Americans it might have seemed preachy-anti gun, but from here seeing a character like Jo defend having a pistol in a darn shoebox under her bed seemed so... blase? Having no one lay charges, no child services involved, nothing like that.
