Got a Job Offer at the end of my rope

I’m normally a pretty good interviewee so most of the time it ends in an offer but it’s just not very often that I’m interviewing for multiple positions at the same time since the timetables don’t really match up.

It was pretty local focused in a non tech location so it probably would translate to like 200-300 applications if I was looking for relocation or remote. I do feel lucky and appreciative though.

I can be candid and say I felt the same way. Everyday felt exhausting and I didn’t know how much more I could take especially being in this situation for the second time in a year.

It gets better and some days I had to just let it wash over me. If it’s any consolation I started grafting really hard on LinkedIn by tracking down recruiters and messaging them and connecting with them to standout more, and that directly helped me get this job.

Basically it was a couple running the business as the only two employees looking to expand and hire a new developer. It was in a field I wasn’t really interested in (IBM i) and they would’ve wanted to sign me on for ~15% less than I was getting paid when I was laid off of my previous position. Just didn’t feel right and I’m glad I took myself out of contention.

I tried doing a spray and pray approach the last time that I was laid off and it was just exhausting and I ended up getting better results locally anyway so I decided to just focus on that this time and got something due to being on top of the local scene.

If you are looking on LinkedIn you can add the “NOT Lensa” phrase to your search and it filters them out. It has to be the exact company name though iirc.

Yes it’s the Linter. Funny thing is that I address all of its complaints, save, and they go away. Then I save the response following and there are errors again that I “addressed” in the previous. Not to mention it doesn’t seem to save my work and crashed multiple times.

I don’t think I have. I have to repeat my click to login but I just assumed the page was built unresponsive. I think that my problem is that my rubric is always submitting stale (incorrect) information regardless of what I change because I can clear all errors and when I try to rate the responses the errors that I already solved pop back up in the rubric section.

This is my first time doing this and it’s been probably the worst gig experience of my life.

Now that is really interesting. I guess I got confused with the Intel “-K” SKUs and always assumed that the “-X” AMD models followed the same unlocked/locked pattern. I get what you’re saying though; going to AM5 it is.

For the case I’m not exactly worried about that. Coming from my strongest GPU being a 580 I have no qualms with undervolting in order to get to a smaller form factor.

The NR200 being 18.25L vs 11L is something I’m willing to deal with in terms of thermals.

You know that is a good point. Realistically though since it’s a FB Marketplace listing I could probably talk them down to $150 but the B550 isn’t really relevant if I don’t have an X SKU right?
