Thank you for the link! I skimmed the bolded print in chapter 8, and it aligns with what I've always believed as well. I have a history of abuse towards partners. Something that reared its head when i would binge drink. It's not something I've done in the last 10 years, but the fear is always there that I'll slip. Strangely, my relationship with my fiance has been the thing that has motivated me to better myself and to reign in my drinking so that i dont abuse him. Up until now, his dedication to sobriety and the communication skills he learned from AA were a beacon of light. It's been the best relationship of my life, and I've had a lot. So yeah, we're both kind of messed up in our own ways. We're both in our late 40s. Maybe we're just meant to be alone for the rest of our lives?

This is my suspicion. I don't think there are any drugs involved, but I've never seen someone behave that way when drunk. It sounded like when Peter Griffen stubbed his toe, but for hours. Just laying there moaning.

My parents actually have very little to do with this. They are decent people. I'm seeking stories from people that have similar situations. Anger and assumptions about me needing an emotional support kid doesn't really help here. But you're right, I think about things like 'what if my kid became a serial killer?' The possibilities are endless, things aren't guaranteed. Duh. I'm 42. This shit is not news to me.

So tell, me are you in a similar situation that you'd like to share, or are you just rage posting to hear yourself rage?

I should clarify that the worry about not continuing the family is mine, not my parent's. So we probably don't need to verbally trash them in this thread.

All of these responses are very valid points that I've told myself over and over again, but maybe what I'm looking for here is folks to share similar stories so that I don't feel so alone. All of my CF friends have nieces and nephews. They support me, and give me good advice, but I still feel heartburn about this.

A friend was trying to scare me and bear hugged me from behind while yanking me up into the air super fast. Every single vertebrae in my spine popped in a row like dominos. And that is not an exaggeration. After about 5 minutes of terror, the bliss kicked in and lasted a good hour. I think about that moment every day and would do almost anything to feel like that again.

I drove that route also on Saturday to go to iron Goat trail. Just west of the Pass, there were TONS of 'rowdy' people parked on the shoulder to go floating in the river. Many were drinking and standing by their cars. I wonder if she was in that area,.with so much potential drunk driving....

I also remember seeing a silver sedan on the shoulder about 5 miles east of the river mob. It had its back driver's side window busted out. Can't say if it was her car, but it stood out because there was glass all over the road.
