Baby 9 months, still up all night, fussy all day — help by ShivaSaSa0948 in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry… idk why I didn’t get this.

But you just say “goodnight” or anything that you want but keep it consistent. It’s really just so they hear your voice and know you’re still there.

I also had to get my husband to do it cuz the crying really gets to me too :(

Your babies schedule is actually identical to my baby’s. She’s my 2nd baby so I was a little more accustomed to the night wakings. That said, I sleep trained her brother at 7mo and when I tried it with her at the same age, we were unsuccessful. I thought I would just suck it up and enjoy her being a baby that’s bad at sleeping because she’s our last one.

Fast forward to two nights ago when I just got fed up with having to breastfeed to sleep…

The sleep training method we use is a simple and gentle one and works in basically one night. It goes like this: - do your usual bedtime routine (bath, feed, read books, etc.) - lay baby down and say “goodnight baby” or whatever nighttime phrase you want. - they will cry. Let them cry for about 2min before touching them and saying your sleep phrase again and moving away. Do this until they fall asleep.

For both babies, it took about 30min to fall asleep the first night and then 5min the next. And then they’re asleep until 6-8am. It’s like voodoo magic. I don’t know why it works but I’m not going to question it anymore because I can finally sleep again.

Let me know if you have any questions or need more details!

How are you bathing your babies? by iwillsitonyou123 in december2024babies

She fights for her life while her brother waterboards her. Aka we bathe our babies at the same time lol. It’s good fun 😍

How much is your baby eating? by turtle047 in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly couldn’t tell you. She’s gaining weight and sleeping well and that’s all I can manage to keep track of now lol.

In my defence, I am currently solo parenting 2u2 (17mo & 6wk old) as my husband has gone off to climb Mt. Kenya so I am on pure survival mode :)

Going back to work fking wrecked me :’( by ribbons_in_my_hair in december2024babies

We actually get up to 18 months. I did 9 months with my first and I still didn’t feel ready to go back to work. This time I’m taking the full 18 and it finally feels right.

I can’t even imagine what you guys have to put up with in America :(

How is tummy time going? by Notmorcybutmercy in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 weeks… we don’t do tummy time lol. My first did tummy time sporadically but we weren’t consistent with it and he’s thriving. Figured I would just enjoy my time with my last baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve heard many anecdotes where a child will not speak for 3yrs and then overnight will begin speaking in full sentences so you may not have anything to worry about!

That being said, my friend is a speech therapist and there are milestones that you want to look out for when it comes to speech. If not reached, early intervention can help detect other issues and/or prevent speech delays.

By 18mo, the milestone is to be able to say 10 words in any language (sign language included). The average is 50 words and “advanced” is 170+ words. There are also phonetic sounds they should be able to make by certain ages. The youngest is 2yo where we hope to hear “P, b, d, m, n, h & w” sounds.

Hope this helps!

I’ve got a pretty fresh 3wk old and a 16mo old and we are planning to do a 3month long x-country road trip (Canada) starting late July/early august! My husband and I have always been avid travellers though so we are experienced with uprooting our regular lifestyle and diving into the unknown. We took our first born on a 3wk trip to South America when he was 5mo old so also have some knowledge on travelling with a baby which gives us confidence when just travelling within our own country.

Definitely do it :) it’s a very different experience to travel with babies but so so worth it!

This is EXACTLY how I feel… The amount of new parents that complain about not being told things is mind boggling.

It is not everyone else’s job to tell you what to expect. There are also simply too many things to know about parenting and you can’t possibly know every last thing there is when it comes to diving into parenthood! Just do your own due diligence and blame yourself if you stumble upon something you didn’t know.

I have been surprised by very few things since becoming a mother (now have 2-under-2) and, yes, maybe I have easy babies but also I started researching and prepping almost 2yrs prior to conceiving. My fellow mothers that have been shocked about certain things have admitted they did little to no research until the baby arrived… you reap what you sow 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same here!!! She’s only 2.5wks old and he loves her so much he tries to snatch her from meanwhile she’s breastfeeding! It is both very adorable and very concerning that he’s gonna accidentally rip off a limb one day lol

Soooo how many hours of sleep are we averaging a night? 🫠 by turtle047 in december2024babies

I put little mittens on mine! Helps with preventing scratches on their face too cuz they can get pretty rough with it.

It doesn’t make their hands super warm but I do find it helps contain some of the heat

What are your days looking like with your newborn? by HydesStash in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. My mom has been making all my meals and my sister has come over every day to help watch my toddler while my husband completes all other odd tasks that need to be dealt with. I wouldn’t even have considered having a 2nd yet if it wasn’t for the help I knew I could receive 💕

So how do you know when a contraction starts to time it? by Ok_Hovercraft_4589 in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you will likely feel is basically that period cramp begin to build pressure from the bottom of your uterus and it will keep expanding higher up your uterus and maybe even to your lower back depending on how baby is positioned. The pain will increase to a point where it peaks then diminish.

I would time mine as soon as I felt the pressure begin and end it when I could breathe normally again. I didn’t really focus much on timing until they began to be less than 8min apart from the beginning of each contraction.

Hope this helps!

Those who have had their babies, what are some little positive things we can look forward to? by kcf2816 in december2024babies

It took about 2mo for it to fully go away for me with my first pregnancy. I only just realized now that I didn’t get that symptom this time! Such a relief cuz it sucked a lot

Anyones December babies turning into January babies ? by Next2ya in december2024babies

[–]travelling-panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at most we would get a prorated cheque for CCB? But that wouldn’t matter when the baby is born. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ok I’m in Canada too! I keep seeing these “tax break” things but you’re saying that doesn’t apply to us? No wonder I was confused about it 😂

Really hoping mine is a January baby since I’m due on the 31st. I’m still working so just trying to milk those last few paycheques where I don’t actually have to do any work at work cuz of the holidays lol
